USA Life of Pi (2012) 2D/3D - March 12,2013

Life of Pi 3D Blu-ray

Life of Pi Blu-ray

IMDB 8.2 Rotten Tomatoes 88%

Quote:
A “magnificent and moving” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone) motion picture event that has been hailed as “a masterpiece” (Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times), taking in over $500 million in worldwide box office. LIFE OF PI follows Pi Patel, a young man on a fateful voyage who, after a spectacular disaster, is marooned on a lifeboat with the only other survivor, a fearsome 450 lb Bengal Tiger named Richard Parker. Hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery Pi and his majestic companion make an amazing and unexpected connection.

With incredible cinematography from Oscar nominee Claudio Miranda** (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron: Legacy) and masterful performances from newcomer Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan (The Amazing Spider-Man, Slumdog Millionaire), Rafe Spall (Prometheus, Anonymous) and Gerard Depardieu (Paris, je t’aime, City of Ghosts), the LIFE OF PI Blu-ray 3D is loaded with over two hours of behind-the-scenes special features, including deleted scenes that will make you rethink the story (also presented in 3D), five featurettes that dive into the making of the visual spectacle, 60 pieces of inspirational artwork, storyboards and more. Prebook is February 13.

This movie was magnificent and will be a definite 3D purchase.

Won't spoil anything, it's not a perfect movie and some viewers may find the visual journey exhausting by credits end, but I urge anyone interested to see it in the theaters in 3D with the imax type of screen.

Your home theater can't come close to this!

(well except for some of you, you bastids!)

Will be a Day-1 purchase without question... I enjoyed the film so much in theaters that this could be the title which sparks my transition to the home 3D format.

Looks visually amazing, but storywise I already had near-zero interest in seeing the film, then I heard about the "twist" in the end my interest level slammed down to absolute zero.

Received three free tickets to the film after showing up at World Market Saturday morning with my wife and mother in law. Will check it out. San Antonio's Palladium IMAX is now an ATMOS theater, will definitely be seeing it there.

Ever since the book was out, everybody raved about it.

I guess I'll check it out.

Lol well then you're missing missing out on the best film of the year (so far, and I've seen basically everything so far). Visually breathtaking, best 3D ever, and the story was heartfelt and wonderful especially for international audiences. Don't miss out.

I'd hardly consider the ending a twist. In fact, there is no twist at all.

It's just another layer of depth that the screenplay allows the audience to ponder. I won't try to ruin anything but the last line of dialogue that the American guy mutters to himself gives us all we need to know.

Why would it be better for international audiences than domestic?

You're the only person I've heard say that. Everyone else I've spoken to (or read reviews from) who has seen it calls it one.

It speaks to religion and stuff, and the story I think some American audiences won't like just because.. not too sure. I guess I'm saying some people here tend to over-criticize things. Anyways, just see it lol or maybe one day you'll regret not seeing it on the big screen in 3D if you end up getting the Blu-ray and loving it.

Sorry, that's always been a pet peeve of mine. But far, FAR behind people who "axe" a question, or say nu-CU-lar instead of nu-CLE-ar (there's no U between the c and the l, people!)

Grammar lesson over, I digress...

[Show spoiler]He had to fabricate a story that the Japanese shipping execs responsible for the ship would buy, because they didn't believe his story with the animals. It's not a twist, it's a lie to non-spiritual people who have no faith.
At least that's how I took it. Seemed pretty clear.

But more likely, the true story of what really happened. As you can probably guess, I'm not a particularly "spiritually" guy. lol

Ok, it doesn't really matter to me if you see the film or not, because I did and loved it, and I'm not spiritual either. But the story that the film shows seemed likely, as oposed to the one
[Show spoiler]he made up for the Japanese execs. There were no personifications of animals or anything in the film, so I can believe they were really animals, and not people.

So adding/removing something when adapting a book can be considered a "lie"? :|
