I agree about the garish tackiness of the art, but that is part of the fun, I suppose. I'm curious to see what the commissioned cover will be.

I wouldn't mind the inclusion of the US poster art. Perhaps on the inside of the case? I just don't think it makes for a great cover. But I guess it's better than some modern photoshop job.

This is a great movie. Ingrid Pitt is the ultimate female vampire. Just as definitive as Christopher Lee was as Dracula.

I get the impression from the Scream Factory blurb that there won't be any art commissioned for this release.

Can't blame them. Bit of a waste of money and time when everyone seems to only complain about the commissioned stuff. I was honestly laughing out loud at the naivety of someone suggesting they go back and have the artist alter the paintings.

I think they're just acknowledging the timeless dependability of original art, but we'll see. I did notice that it doesn't say 'Special Edition' across the top, so perhaps you're right, as the non-SE releases haven't had reversible covers.

The US cover is a lot better than the Australian release!

I love the art. Yes, it is a bit garish, but it's how I originally knew about the movie. My family has had a Search for Dracula book since I was a kid and it had that poster and a brief synopsis of the film in it.

Go with the original art. This one is never going to end up on retail shelves anyway.

Do the people at Scream! have no taste in artwork? Here are some original poster arts that would have been better options (at least for myself):

I'll admit, those posters look gorgeous but honestly I just bought an original 1-sheet poster of "The Vampire Lovers" (which is the one Scream is using) and that thing looks remarkable in person. The colors and design just pop on that thing so I'm really pleased that Scream kept it classic. Are the images used on the Hammer releases from the UK 1-sheet posters?
Slipcovers in need, PM me if you're looking to sell:
"Rambo" The Complete Collector's Set and "Lost Boys: The Thirst"

I love the cover art. It reminds me of my old Horror comics. It use to be that some artist would actually create the movie poster. Now days its just some hack sitting in front of a computer screen.

Nice to see some new extras, in addition to the commentary and Carmilla reading ported from the DVD. And a super-low list price: $19.99! It would be great if that were the standard price-point for non-CE releases going forward.

Last time i watched this movie was on betamax !,so i am loooking forward to owning this again.

I have just bought the u.k versions of "the devil rides out" and "the plauge of the zombies" which both look very good indeed,i would also like to see some of the Amicus studios movies released on blu-ray like "the beast must die" and "tales from beyond the grave".
