Of course the only Franco title that Redemption and Kino have access to that I care about in Christine, Princess of Eroticism/A Virgin Among the Living Dead goes unreleased so far, after it was already announced (Franco's Dracula being the other one I care about owning).

Zombie Lake? I just remembered the smell after I barfed after watching this.
Won't upgrade unless it's a five-disc set with dozens of hours of extras. If it's barebones, I'll leave it alone. Oasis I may pick up, as I enjoyed it more. |

I am skeptical; how would DVD Empire get the scoop on previously unannounced Kino releases complete with date? Titles unannounced but less than three months from suggested release at that.I immediately wondered about Virgin Among the Living Dead also; Kino needs to end the silence surrounding VALD.

Shoot, forgot to type "that I care about", thought I did. I remember the press release, and I think they even had hd footage of VALD. I thought Redemption+Kino were supposed to be getting the rights to The Grapes of Death in early 2013 as well, hopefully it's announced soon. |

Zombie Lake is abysmal. Even the label Redemption can't redeem this pile of sh!t.
Blu-ray WishList: 'Seconds'(1966) 'The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane'(1976), 'Mildred Pierce'(1945), 'Legend of Lizzie Borden'(1975 TV Movie), 'The Howling'(1981), 'Valley of the Dolls'(1967), 'A Place in the Sun'(1951), 'Sunset Boulevard'(1950), and many films of Joan Crawford, Rock Hudson, Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor, James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, etc.

Pair of stinkers. I might be wrong but I dimly recall Franco was supposed to have directed Zombie Lake (he co-wrote it) and Rollin Oasis. Oasis is just interminably dull and feels like double its actual running time. At least Zombie Lake originally went out under a pseudonym for Rollin but about the only thing you can say it favour of it is its not as bad as Killing Car. I don't know how many time I've said: zombie Nazis - how can anyone mess THAT up?

What I don't understand is how Kino decides to release box sets.
Rollins films came out individually on Blu. Then a box set of all those films gets announced almost a year later. And now that box seems incomplete with MORE Rollin titles being released. I honestly don't know what, if any Kino's, ill purchase anymore other than their one offs (City of Life & Death, etc) since they can't seem to decide to dick us around with box sets. As a completist I want those sets. But release them with the individual Blus or tell us in advance! |

To this day, I can't believe that Jess Franco, Jean Rollin, Doris Wishman, Al Adamson, H.G. Lewis and Tinto Brass would ever be on blu-ray. I know they all have lulls in their work, but it's good to know that they take the time to put their films (no matter how good or bad) out.

I wouldn't put Rollin in with the rest of that lot, his films have more in common with avant garde films than "trash" cinema and exploitation

I had a look at the DVD and Rollin is only partly to blame for Zombie Lake as it was co-directed with Julian De Laserna which gives some clue to the JA Laser director credit. Rollin does do a spot of acting in it but its debatable how much he's responsible for the film. Can't wait for Night Of The Hunted, easily my favourite Rollin.

Unbelievable... I actually picked up the Euroshock DVD of Zombie Lake earlier this year, telling myself that there was no way in HELL that film would ever see the light of blu ray. I doubt I'll be double dipping for that one anytime soon, but I'm interested to see the package Redemption offers.
