Default The Blob (1988) (Limited Edition to 3,000) - SOLD OUT

SOLD OUT

IMDB - 6.3 ( 19,078 users )

Rotten Tomatoes - 61 % ( 18 reviews counted )

Quote:
More graphically-realistic than ever THE BLOB has returned in this horrific tale about a vile, malignant life-form that crashes to earth in a cozy, rural American town called Arborville. Untroubled by conscience or intellect, the Blob does only one thing-and does it well. It eats anything and everything that moves...men, women, children. And tonight it wants to swallow Arborville whole. The original version of THE BLOB thrilled and terrified audiences back in the 50's. Now the oozing, gooey killer is back with a new high-tech 80's look. What was once only suggested now comes to life in this visually gut-wrenching thriller in the tradition of such classic remakes as "The Thing" and "The Fly".

[Show spoiler]Update: According to TT's FB page, it's coming on October 14th.

NOTE: Pre-orders will be live sometime in mid-September

I've sent a PM to folks from TT via their FB page, regarding some questions I've had about few titles that i'd like to see on Blu and this is what they told me : "Neither of those are on the horizon at the moment, but the Blob remake is likely for 2013..."

Granted, it's not clear whether The Blob will be released next year or not (though i'm guessing it will be due for next Halloween), but the good news is - they definitely have it,and fortunately it will be due next year.

Update (2/16/13) : According to Nick Redman and TT FB page, The Blob (1988) is now releasing in October 2014.

Bet they're hedging on the timing to see when Criterion slots in their rumoured Blob '58 Blu-ray upgrade Akijama.

Glad to hear confirmation, the Blob remake is a very underrated flick. What were the titles that they nixed?

It will. Kim Newman confirmed that he wrote the booklet essay back in the summer.

I really like Twilight Time. I am a huge supporter of them, appreciate the quality and care they show for their releases, the fact that they are putting out many lost in the vault or otherwise almost forgotten films on blu-ray, and get excited every time new titles are announced. I have every one of their releases so far.

But I have to admit, I am really sad that they got this one - now it will be limited to 3000.

First four DVDs I ever bought, back in the day: Blade Runner, Saving Private Ryan, Gallipoli, and The Blob 1988.

Awesome news to hear! A solid remake if I say so myself. It'll look great in the Blu-ray collection.

This shouldn't be a problem! Whenever the movie becomes available for pre-order, order yourself a copy ASAP.

Love this movie, and will buy it on day one.

Even the theme song is one of my all-time faves!

Oh, the horror!
