United Kingdom Django (1966)

Argent Films will be releasing the original Django with Franco Nero on January 21st, 2013. Anyone planning on picking this one up? I am contemplating getting it. I want to know which would be the better version to get; the US or UK release.

Well it's kind of hard to tell which one is better since this one isn't even out yet?

Who knows though, I understand the BU transfer was a bit dodgy.

The Blue Underground one was region locked so this Argent one is a welcome release. They did a nice job on Battle of Algiers so I'll get this too.

Not directly related like a sequel. Spaghetti westerns are one of Tarantino's big influences so this is more of a homage. The original Django actor, Franco Nero, though does have a cameo in the new film.

This is up for pre order on the Sainsbury's site for £13.99. Wonder if Amazon will drop theirs? £20 does seem a little steep. Will definatly get this. Im sure I saw somewhere that this new BD is the longest vesion ever released. What was missing from the BU release?

I think I'm gonna go for the US version - the extras on it look really interesting, and it can be picked up cheaper than most places are selling the UK version for.

Excellent. Amazons price has fallen too but nowhere near as low as this. Hey are you the same Dickieduvet I met on Horrordigital when I was trying to get my Panny Blu ray region free?

Really curious to see if this loses all the digital nonsense on the US one. If it does, I'm definitely getting it.

If this is the same transfer as the Dutch release then it's looking a little worse then the Blue Underground release.

Hopefully that's not the case, as its current price is very tempting.

Surely not. That Dutch Blu is listed as 1080i. Wouldnt have thought they would use that. What have Argent's previous Blu ray releases been like? There is also no lossless audio on the NL Blu. We really need a review of this before next week.

Has anybody checked out the description on Amazon UK lately? Their marketing people are doing a pretty good job at making this sound like the definitive version. Like most of the rest of you though, I'm still going to wait for some reviews.

Hopefully it's better, but that's almost exactly what the US version says on the back: "This definitive edition has been newly transferred in HD from its original camera negative"...

It could potentially be the SAME transfer but minus the digital noise that somehow leaked into the mastering. Many times the same masters are used by various companies in different regions, but I guess we'll see.
