Default Ronin, Battle Of Britain, Bridge Too Far, Red Dawn

I hate to be the bearer of bad news - i spoke up earlier about how 4 titles had disappeared from Fox's Retailer's Site and I wanted to confirm before giving a def. answer.

Red Dawn
Battle of Britain
Bridge Too Far
Ronin

have all been put on pre-book moratorium and pulled from the release schedule by Fox.
If you were to compare Blu-Ray and HD-DVD - wait....there is no comparison. Blu-Ray is the ONLY high def format.

I just bought two more Fox titles today and they look great as most have lately. Just makes you wonder if they are trying to get it right the first time or having some type of transfer trobules.

Since these are all catalogs, I'm guessing this is due to the fact that "Edward Scissorhands" showed up on the newsgroups last night.

What about "Rescue Dawn"? That's also been dropped from Amazon.
Blu-ray: 150 (and counting!)

DVD: 266

No - Rescue Dawn is still set to go. Fox is one of the best studio's in my opinoin that releases blu-rays. Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Independence DAy are still a full go- so I'm happy about that. No info. has been posted as why but probably because they want to do it right and don't want to release anything that is anything but what is to be expected when you watch a blu-ray.

Edward had the old AACS keys and no BD+, it was just a matter of time. TDAT and FF2 still havent been touched at all, they have BD+ and AACS MKB4 keys.

Yanking these titles once is bad enough but to do it TWICE is unforgivable.

Do we know why this was done? Maybe they just did not think the remastering was up to snuff, and they don't want to shaft us, like Uni did to HD DVD fans w/ all those summer releases which received 3/5 stars for PQ. Until we know exactly why, hold off judgment. They could have given us crappy PQ and AQ and then you'd be *****ing about that.

People nag when studio double dip on movies because it wasn't done right, then people nag that it has been pulled for a later release and done right. Make up your mind. Is still fairly new format.

I could see this for one postponement/cancellation but not for two. Don't you think we're at least owed an explanation?

I am pretty sure the first one was because of a lack of BD+ technology, which was why they didn't release anything after Night at the Musuem until this fall.

Also, I do understand frustration, since I would really like Ronin especially, but as Nicadian said, it's a new format, so patience is a prerequisite, especially for early adopters.

I Wish FOX Would At least Make There Back catalogue Region Free In The US So We In The UK Can Have A Chance Of Buying Die Hard With A Vengeance On Blu-Ray And Not Just Die Hard, Die Hard 2 Die Harder & Die Hard 4.0 Come On FOX We Brits Have The Same Right To Own A 4 Movies As Well. I Can Understand New Titles Being Region Coded But Not Your Back catalogue So Please Please Please Please Please Take Leaf Out Of DISNEY'S Book And Make Your Back catalogue Region Free.

Since we aren't the one's doing the transfer to BD, I guess we'll just have to wait longer. Good things come to those who wait.

I heard that Transformers has the latest AACS keys. If that isn't out there then maybe those are working. I'm guessing those will be broken at some point (not sure what the AnyDVD guys are saying), but it will be interesting to see what happens as far as the new AACS keys holding up and BD+ holding up. Seems like the longer the new AACS keys hold up, the longer they are likely to, although I don't know what the situation is with players on PCs and suspect that as long as there is a player for XP that plays these discs, people will figure out how to get the files in the free and clear.

The recent SD-DVD of Red Dawn is pretty good if anyone needs their fix for that movie. I'm bumed about A Bridge Too Far. I was eager to upgrade form my old LD, not to mention it had the best cover art I've seen yet on Blu-ray.
Panasonic TC-P50VT20, Pioneer VSX 1120, and Panasonic DMP-BDT300: Amazing combo!
