Default Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2, and Part 1 Extended Edition - March 2, 2013

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 Blu-ray

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 Extended Edition Blu-ray

The fifth and final (for now) "Twilight" film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, has been given a Saturday, March 2 release date on Blu-ray and DVD.
Summit Entertainment has elected to release all the "Twilight" films on Saturdays in a bid to encourage the franchise's scores of fans to participate in midnight launch parties on Friday night. Breaking Dawn Part 2 will be no different, and will likely have some of the biggest parties of them all.

Breaking Dawn Part 2 stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, and is directed by Bill Condon. The film has earned $289.2 million at the domestic box office thus far and a massive $813.9 million worldwide.

and not to be outdone.....

Summit Entertainment has announced that an extended version of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 will hit home video on March 2.
Here's the full press release followed by a trailer for the "Extended Edition":

Here is the chance to discover even more of the blockbuster film when The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Extended Edition, featuring eight minutes of never-before-seen footage, debuts only on Blu-ray Disc (plus Digital Copy and UV), DVD (plus Digital Copy and UV) and Digital Download on Saturday March 2nd from Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE company. Now with eight minutes of new and extended scenes added back into the film by Director Bill Condon, along with his optional audio commentary, fans can delve deeper into the epic series they adore. Experience the timeless romance and drama in a whole new way when The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Extended Edition, featuring the original theatrical version and the all-new extended edition with optional audio commentary from the director, arrives on Blu-ray Disc and DVD for the suggested retail price of $29.99 and $22.98, respectively.

“As Twilight series devotees know, there was a lot of ground to cover in adapting Breaking Dawn to the screen,” said Condon. “Between the wedding, the honeymoon, the birth, and everything in between, naturally there were things that didn’t make it into our final cut. But I wanted to make sure that for all the Twihards out there, there was a chance to see some of these cut scenes – several of which are fan favorites from the book.”

The Twilight Saga has held its spot as the top-selling home entertainment franchise since 2008 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 took in $281.3 million in domestic box office sales after its release on November 18, 2011. The worldwide phenomenon continues to ignite a huge following of passionate and loyal fans that have driven the success of the Saga from the beginning.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Extended Edition now featuring additional footage, presents the marriage, honeymoon and the birth of a child that brings unforeseen and shocking developments for Bella and Edward and those they love, including new complications with werewolf Jacob Black.

I know Part 2 is getting an extended edition.. so this makes sense.. i hope this is a slipcover.. from the looks of it i think it is..

however that date seems to be wrong.. this date is saying March 2.

Somehow I doubt many of us here are going to be double dipping on this like with Lotr .
That being said, I'm not a hater but nor am I a fan. I've read all the books (it was a long time ago when Harry Potter had ended and I needed something new to read. The internet suggested Twilight . The first book was bad but I marched on hoping something amazing would happen in the end..but alas I was wrong.)
I've read the books and watched the first four movies, might as well finish the series with the fifth movie. But there is no way I'm double dipping on this series. I was however hoping they would re-release the first three movies as well with slipcovers.

Btw, isn't Lionsgate supposed to be releasing this?

I dont think the date isnt wrong. It goes up for Pre order Jan. 14th. The one you got says on video March 2. Which is weird because Part 2 comes out Febuary 16th.

Will be getting part 2 for sure, but 8 minutes isn't enough to make me double dip on part 1.

8 minutes? Talk about a blatantly obvious cash-grab

Almost every Unrated edition is less than that, so it's not so bad. That 8 minutes could have quite an effect...although I'll never know.

I'm a sucker for extended cuts, so I'll be double dipping (although I'm not happy about it!)

Perhaps I'm spoiled by the LOTR trilogy, but when I think "Extended Edition" I imagine it being more than 8 minutes. That basically sounds like some deleted scenes that they decided to put back in to milk Twilight fans for all they're worth.

Why does the title say March 6th?
Big shot screaming, "Put your hands in the sky." He says, "Give it up, boy. Give it up, or you're going to die."
