Default Are video Game Scores getting up there with movies??

More and more im finding myself becoming majorly impressed by the OSTs in video games

My mind was blown during this track from
mass effect 3s OST
amazing

batman arkam city OST
^I think this is one of the best batman themes ever IMO

uncharted 3

Max Payne 3 and was blown away yet again by the opening track very epic

Dead Space 3 this track really kicks in at 2.25 mark into epic stuff

Tomb Raider this music made this section of the game it takes place in even better

Yes! Even more impressive than film scores in some cases because of the interactive nature of gaming that requires "on the fly" transitions between music elements.

Nier has by far the best OST I've ever heard. I highly suggest checking it out immediately.

My favorites are the original Spyro the Dragon trilogy from the first PlayStation. The scores from the Ratchet & Clank series, God of War series, Tomb Raider series, and Donkey Kong Country Returns get frequently played on my iPod. My all-time favorite is the score from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I really wish the film score could have emulated more from this.
Oh, you think darkness is your ally? But you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING! The shadows betray you because they belong to me.

I've never really got into movie soundtracks. I've been more of a videogame soundtrack fan.

As a big fan of movie and videogame scores I have to say nowadays a lot of videogame scores actually exceed those of many high-profile blockbuster movie releases. Plus nowadays its a lot more common for movie composers to work on videogames.

A few examples:
Quote:
Hans Zimmer – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Crysis 3, Skylanders
Brian Tyler – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Need For Speed The Run, Far Cry 3, Lego Universe, Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel
Trent Reznor –Quake, Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Ramin Djawadi – System Shock 2, Medal of Honor, Shift 2: Unleashed, Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Just a few examples, but that along with actors, directors and such working on videogames as well you really see a thinning line between films and games.

I personally think games have had scores of the same quality as films for well over a decade.
