The Impossible Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

IMDB Rotten Tomatoes

Quote:
Director Juan Antonio Bayona follows up his critically acclaimed feature debut THE ORPHANAGE with this drama set during the 2004 Thailand tsunami, detailing one family's incredible fight for survival. Inspired by actual events, THE IMPOSSIBLE finds Henry (Ewan McGregor), his wife Maria (Naomi Watts), and their three sons lounging poolside at a scenic Thailand resort following an eventful Christmas. But just as the family begins to forget their troubles and settle in for a relaxing tropical getaway, one of the worst natural disasters in modern history changes their lives in the blink of an eye. Meanwhile, as shock gives way to abject horror, the devoted parents fight to protect their children, encountering scenes of heart-wrenching tragedy and experiencing acts of incredible compassion as the entire country is engulfed in chaos. Tom Hollander and Geraldine Chaplin co-star.

4 stars out of 4 -- "Here is a searing film of human tragedy....THE IMPOSSIBLE is one of the best films of the year."-- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Likely a first day purchase for me. Loved the film, especially Naomi Watts, who is up there with Michelle Williams and Jessica Chastain as one of my favorite actresses.

This was amazing! If you enjoyed films like Cast Away or 127 Hours, I'd highly recommend it. I can't believe that it's based on a true story. The Orphanage is probably my favorite horror movie, so I'm not surprised at how much I liked this. I can't wait to see what Juan Antonio Bayona does next!

I think Watts' performance is the best of the actress nominees this year.

Jessica Chastain is probably the favorite, but I'd love to see Naomi Watts win. I really thought she should have won something for The Painted Veil, but she wasn't even nominated.

Definitely, although I must say I was impressed by Jennifer Lawrence as well. For the Jessica Chastain fans; loved her performance, but thats before I saw Impossible and Silver Linings, so she gets pushed down to 3rd place.
Naomi Watts' make up people should receive an award, they did an amazing job!

One of my favorites of the year. The tsunami sequence was horrifying. Day 1 purchase for me. Naomi Watts should definitely win Best Actress for her incredible performance. Plus the academy owes her one after robbing her for her heart breaking performance in 21 Grams.

Wow, 'The Impossible' appears to be flying under the radar! My wife and I went to see it today and, WOW, what an incredibly moving story about tragedy, adversity, determination, triumph, compassion, love and family!!

'The Impossible' is my second favorite movie from 2012 (Lincoln is still ahead by a nose). Naomi Watts deserves an Oscar for her performance. Hell, I wouldn't be too disappointed if 'The Impossible' beat out 'Lincoln' for the Best Picture statue.

The Booth Bijou gives 'The Impossible' 5 out of 5 stars! HIGHLY recommended!

I look forward to seeing it again AND sharing it with our guests in the Booth Bijou Garage Theater!

Mark

I was moved to tears at the agony endured by the characters on-screen just as I was moved to tears at the little glimmers of joy and humanity shown in the film. This is a film where I was swept away by the waves of emotions I felt throughout the film and it is one of the best films of the year. As bleak as the film’s premise sounds, The Impossible is an incredibly moving and uplifting film of family-love and triumph.

I do not know why the film is called The Impossible but in fairness, I cannot think of more appropriate titles. Does the title refer to the feat as to how the family managed to survive through the disaster? Or does it refer to the actual disaster itself? I do know it is one of the best films of 2012…and 2012 has been a great year in film.

Emmanuelle Riva would like a word with you.

Pretty good movie but not sure if I'd watch it over and over.

I will admit going into this film, I did not expect to like it as much as I did. Was a pleasant suprise and turned into one of my favorite films from last year.
