What extended cut??? The DVD is 102 minutes, and that's the only run time IMDB lists for it.

Well, didn't Echo Bridge do Robert Rodriguez's Road Racers? There's some hope this could have some new extras.

Really disappointing that Echo Bridge had to be the one to get this. Other than a couple of rarities, the Lionsgate releases of Miramax movies have been pretty good. If it's in the proper aspect ratio, it's a start, but I generally refuse to buy any movies without subtitles. I was waiting on this to finally come out too.

As long as it's in 2.35:1 and contains the bonus features from the DVD I'm on board. Love me some Kevin Smith. This movie is very underrated.

In the dvd commentary, Kevin Smith said an extended cut was coming "later" and it wasn't available on that release because of music rights issues. That was 2004, so the earliest it could come out was 2005. 2005 is the time Bob and Harvey Weinstein left Miramax and started up their own company, taking Kevin Smith with them. Disney didn't really have any use for Miramax/Dimension titles, and Kevin's loyalty to the Weinsteins, probably put brakes to this release. The movie didn't make a nickle, and dvd sales were soft, so in Disney's POV why spent the extra cash for a title that won't sell anyway. Still kind of surprised that Lionsgate didn't pick up this title as well, but then again it takes place outside of the View Askew Universe |

Anyone disappointed in the fact that EB is releasing Jersey Girl there is always the one from Spain. I don't know if it is region free but it is out there. It was on my list to buy next big order I placed from Europe if the price was right.

The extended cut has been screened in public a bunch of times, most recently (I think) at the last Vulgarthon in LA. By all accounts, it's a much different (and much better) version of the movie.
So it exists. All someone probably has to do is ask him for it. |

I never did, either. It seemed like trashing Smith and, especially, Affleck was the thing to do at the time. Having Lopez pop up in the movie made the target even greater since the media was having a field day going after those two. Affleck is fantastic in this movie and it's easily Smith's most commercial (and arguably most accomplished) movie.
