holy schnitzel! I'm so glad I did not pay too much for my UK Blu-ray! Hopefully this will look as good as other Koch releases did recently!

While I will definitely wait for some reviews before buying, here's hoping I can get rid of one more DVD (Hong Kong R3 disc) with this release.

I'm slightly confused though. Part of the description says it'll be 2 Blu-rays and 4 DVD's, the other part makes it sound like it's 3 Blu-rays and 3 DVD's. Maybe both theatrical cuts will be on one Blu-ray.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

I *ALMOST* caved in and bought the US blu-ray at wal mart for $8, just so I could complete my trilogy on blu-ray (Anchor Bay Evil Dead, Lionsgate Evil Dead 2, etc)... I *knew* there was a reason something kept telling me "WAIT! DON'T DO IT!"

So, as Koch seems to have a decent track record from what I've seen, here's hoping that, much like the Hong Kong DVD, they've used a complete film source for the director's cut. Good lord, I can't imagine cutting back and forth between HD footage and VHS footage... it was bad enough in standard def on the Anchor Bay DVD!

But what catches my eye is the "TV version", primarily because the TV cut features the extended Ash captured by Arthur scene ("I don't like being... SUCKER PUNCHED!") as well as the extended windmill investigation scene (which has why Ash runs into the mirror make more sense), both in *much* better quality than the "deleted scenes" on the DVDs (which look like they were taken from a VHS of a reddish workprint). Of course, the TV cut was mastered during the "standard def era", so expect 4x3 SD goodness

This seems pretty definitive. While I'd kinda like the Aussie Book AoD to complete my "book" trilogy, I'll likely import this instead.

Does Germany use NTSC or PAL?

In translating the relevant thread at the Cinefacts forum, that appears to be the case. Additionally, the DC in this version is apparently courtesy of MGM and will replicate the version on their R3 HK DVD.
"You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment."

Koch has delivered the goods of late with HOWARD THE DUCK and several other titles I've imported. I'm not worried about forced subs or terrible PQ -- if indeed the longer version is sourced from MGM, and those other versions all materialize, this really ought to be the definitive release of the film.
