Australia LG Blu-ray player giving static sound

Hey guys,

Friend of mine recently bought a LG BP120 Blu-ray player, and said that he has had troubles with it, as it starts off ok, but 15 minutes into a film all he gets is good picture, but static sound. I was unable to think of any reason why this should happen, can anyone be of assistance?

Cheers in advance.
My Setup:- TV - Sony Bravia KDL-40V4000, Blu-ray Player - Sony BDP-S570, Amplifier - Yamaha HTR-6130, Speakers - Sherwood GSP-5110 5.1 Ch Speaker System.

What's your mate's setup like? Is he using HDMI, Optical, Coax or RCA for audio? Is he using an amp or just a TV?

It's not the DTS bomb is it?

Just a BR player hooked to a tv via HDMI.

Make sure the player is decoding the audio and sending it via PCM. See if that does the trick. It certainly shouldn't cause the problem but you never know...
