YES! Always near the top of my wishlists. Been waiting on The Right Stuff for three years, ever since I sold off my DVD during a big purge for blu-ray money, thinking it will be along shortly.

But, man, now I gotta wait until November!

Day 1 buy for me. My family use to own the double VHS tapes, I would watch these everyday growing up.

Excellent film that should look and sound stunning on blu. If you haven't read the book - it's wonderful. Tom Wolfe is amazing.

The First DVD I ever owned. I still have it, the old flipper version. I'll gladly retire it for the Blu-ray The Right Stuff is a great movie and I've always been fascinated with early space exploration.

I'm not a huge Tom Wolfe fan but yeah, The Right Stuff is an excellent read.

If any blind buyers of the film are on the fence don't hesitate to read the book first. IMO reading the book gives the movie even more depth and richness.
And I have been fortunate to escape what has been called “that form of snobbery which can accept the Literature of Entertainment in the Past, but only the Literature of the Enlightenment in the Present.” - Raymond Chandler

I saw the movie first, but I still couldn't put the book down when I did get around to it.

Yeah, there's definitely no wrong order. I saw the movie first as well and loved the book and then loved the movie even more when I saw it again after reading the book.

(that all makes sense, right?)

I saw the film as a kid when it was released. Years later I read the book. A great read easily recommended even to folks who don't like Tom Wolfe. It was many years later that I finally revisited the movie. The book is obviously more detailed, but both are executed so well that I don't think it matters in what order you approach them.

Slightly off topic, but I think I may revisit From The Earth To The Moon, too.

I have not read the book, but I am old enough to watch the launches on TV. I have the 2 VHS tape set,but never got the DVD. I have been waiting a long time also for the blu-ray.

For any readers in this thread, I recommend the book "Two Sides of the Moon" written by astronaut David Scott and cosmonaut Alexei Leonov. It is their story of the cold war space race and it gives a very interesting insiders look at the two space programs.

What he said. I saw this for the first time last year and was blown away. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

I used to watch this movie all the time on VHS many years ago, but I never got around to owning it on DVD. Seems like this will be a good way for me to reacquaint myself with this fine flick.
