Agreed. It looks horrible graphically. Its probably also gonna be on the 360, so we'll get audio just as bad.

I finally watched the trailer off the PSN store last night, and I was underwhelmed, to say the least. The article about this game in Game Informer a few issues ago made it seem that EA's developers were taking a sort of grass roots effort to make a game that was 1) scary and 2) didn't suck.

Judging from the choppy framerate and poor texturing in the video, I have a feeling they may have failed on both counts. It did remind me of a Dino Crisis 3 / Doom 3 wannabe though. I was holding out hope for the game, but now I'm a bit disappointed. I guess I'll keep waiting for Gearbox's Aliens game. That still looks freakin' sweet.

I read about this a few months back. There's supposed to be a Zero G component that varies things up a bit. And the plot sounds more like Carpenter's The Thing....in space.

Here is the new trailer
The graphics here blow away everything that we have seen for this game so far! And it alludes to a story!

Somehow the planets aligned and I had just watched the 'Doom' movie on TV (wow.. how did this movie get made? but, i digress). I watched the trailers for Dead Space shortly after and all I could think was 'Didn't I just watch this in a movie earlier today?'

I fail to see anything fresh here. The graphics are 'okay' but no where near compelling. The gravity concept could pan out... we'll have to see.

I'm not overly judging the title yet; however, when I see EA on anything I immediately have to think 'quickly thrown together using basic gameplay sellers based on marketing data' and have to assume the game will be less than six hours long total and have almost no customization or choices (strictly linear) in it. Such things would lengthen development time too much for EA. When I see EA drop a game that has been in development for three years (i.e. MGS4 and the like) then I might look at them again. For now; however, I'm not prepared to spend $60 for an EA title given the complete lack of content their games have provided lately.

I don't see that but I can see where you're coming from. With EA I Usually think unsupported MP experience. My feeling with them is they seem to release a game, and then forget about it. The Battlefield games seem to come to mind. This is the main reason I'm avoiding Bad company like the plague. Think orange box support when thinking about EA mp games.

However...their single player games seem fine with me. Im phyched for the two pandemic games (lotr:conquest, Mercs2) and Criterion rarely misses with their games (somehow burnout paradise is being taken care of completely and making my bad mp support argument look bad). Bioware rarely misses as well. Mirrors Edge looks pretty damn great also. (thx heathward for the reminder)

I concur with you on Pandemic and Bioware (not as big a Criterion fan). Those two studios are top quality in their genres for sure and they haven't let me down yet really. Though, Mercs2 doesn't seem to have the visual flare I was hoping for and isn't drawing me in at all... I'm still watching the LOTR stuff to see what happens with it.

I guess my overall complaint (if you want to call it that) is the whole way they do multiplatform development... Developing for the lowest common denominator and porting up when it should be the other way around. Make it for the highest quality console with the best of everything (PS3) and port down. I'm really sick and tired of developers (fueled by corporations like EA who are very interested in turning out titles fast and furious to keep income up to keep shareholders happy) that are lazy and just do things the same old way figuring that worst case scenario they will make back their cash on rental sales alone. Sad.
