Upstream Color Blu-ray Review

Quote:
A man and woman are drawn together, entangled in the life-cycle of an ageless organism. Identity becomes an illusion as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked lives.

No shit!? Hmmm, this is interesting because, and if I remember correctly, he's doing a digital roll out for this film in April to where you could purchase it through his site or iTunes. Also, it's suppose to hit limited theatres between March and May.
"Because he's the hero that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now... and so we'll hunt him... because he can take it... because he's not a hero... he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a DARK KNIGHT."

I don't care if it disappoints, I'm gonna find a place for it in my top 5 of 2013 even if if takes ten tries to like it.

Come to think if it, this may be great counterprogramming (in a way). While IronMan 3 Oblivion and Star Terk II sink intelligent sci fi to a new low, Shane Carruth will be ready with a first aid kit.

Different strokes for different folks. Just because some movies are commercial won't automatically mean they're bad sci-fi or unintelligent. I have no less trust in Shane Black than I do Shane Carruth.

My closest arthouse (an hour away by train) is getting this three weeks before the blu releasing. Trying to figure out if I can wait the extra time to see it. I'd likely end up paying the same amount either way, after a train ticket and movie ticket.

You can rent it on amazon right now, if you wanted...

Edit: Oh, sorry, you're in Canada...don't know if you can.

..but for anyone else, you can do that..

The film is great and not nearly the tough nut to crack that Primer is plotwise.

that rent is a preorder for renting on the 7th of May.

anyway this looks awesome, and I had enough amazon credit to cover the cost for the blu ray before it went up in price. Seeing it in Atlanta on April 26th. any word on extras? buying it either way but I'm curious....

I understand why they wouldn't want a wide release for this film, but not even a limited release for cities like LA or NY? The studio must have no confidence for this film!

"The people that this is for, it will be for," Carruth said of the audience he wants for "Upstream Color," which he describes as "an earnest film," explaining his desire to sell the film for what it is and not what a more conventional distributor might try to make it out to be. "Everything about the choice to do the distribution is about contextualizing" the movie, Carruth said during a recent interview in Los Angeles.

So am I! With Shane Carruth in attendance, no less.
That had better not be the final artwork for the blu release.
