I love the first one so much.

Not sure if that makes me want this other one or not.

I've seen it,...

Next to Hudsucker, this will likely be the second-awesomest release of 2013 for me.

Love Babe, and this is a worthy sequel that takes incredible risks. Its darker themes stand up to repeated viewing and analysis, especially in contrast to the original. It's a shame that most audiences didn't get it and pooped on its parade, giving it a bad reputation that has lasted until this day.

Cool! A totally unique and underrated sequel that was shamefully mismarketed (and, frankly, should have been rated PG).

Transfer on the region-free overseas release was disappointing with both DNR and EE glaringly obvious. I'd guarantee this will be from the same master. Love the movie though.

Interestingly, while it was initially considered G, it was re-rated PG:

1998 Rated:PG;
Edited for re-rating

All current home video releases also have PG on them I believe.

This movie has not been shown in its original PG rated version. All video releases, at least here in the US, is the edited G version.

I was surprised by how decent this actually was. Babe is one of my favorite family films of all time so I wouldn't mind owning the sequel.

I was looking at a video release that said PG, but you're right, seems like it's only ever been G in this country.

Either way, it's still the most uncomfortable G-rated film of all-time, and should have been PG in the version that was released, as Monterey Jack mentions. (I'd rather not see the additional "dog violence" that was cut to get it back to G according to the wiki article).

Great movie -- offbeat, imaginative, different than its predecessor -- but extremely odd in places, and even downright disturbing in a couple of places for kids. Unsurprising that it did so poorly at the box-office compared to its predecessor.

I disagree. The movie is well made, but it is (in my opinion) a terrible "sequel." The original film is a tremendously touching and heartwarming movie. While it had some more serious scenes, the overall feel of the movie is very light. B:PitC is like a nightmare alternate universe sequel. A "worthy" sequel will usually appeal to the vast majority of people who liked the original film. This film is so different, it should have been a different franchise.

Perhaps a lot of people didn't "get it". However, I would say that's because they weren't presented with a proper sequel. The film is just too different. It's scene after scene of things going wrong and disturbing imagery with very few positives to lighten the mood. It weighs on the viewer to the point of pain. The fact that it all wraps up nice and clean at the end can't undo more than an hour of piling on the negative.

I'm glad that fans are getting this on Blu-ray, but there are very good reasons why so many people didn't like this movie.

Yep, that transfer is truly dreadful. Film is brilliant and terribly underappreciated. A shame.

Talk about a movie that would look good in 3D, this would be great.

This movie always reminds me of one of the most hilarious true cultural stories that I ever heard. A lawyer friend in Papua New Guinea was discussing watching the time he took his mom to Australia and they saw this. She is from the bush (i.e., a remote village in the jungle). She spent the whole movie amazed that animals outside of Papua New Guinea can actually talk. He knew it would be futile to try to explain to her how movies are made, so instead he told her that in America they have a place called Disney World wherepeople go to see some of the talking animals.
Toshiba 40-inch 1080p TV; Sony BDP-S590, Panasonic DMP-BDT220 (back-up); Samsung HT-D330 (5.1 surround, DVD HT w/ region-free capability); Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 250gb w/ Kinect

This is true joy in life, the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourelf as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. - George Bernard Shaw

I remember watching the DVD years ago and liking how good it looked. What happened?
