'Game Plan' Bound for Blu-ray this January

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is headed back to high-def disc this January, with Disney rolling out the blu carpet for his smash hit comedy 'The Game Plan.'

Having grossed $80 million dollars so far, 'The Game Plan' has proven that The Rock's box office appeal extends far beyond the testosterone-fueled action-fests he's best known for. Though the flick is still going strong in theaters, Disney has alerted retailers that it is planning an extras-laden January 22, 2008 Blu-ray debut for the flick, day-and-date with the standard DVD
Among the planned supplements are a collection of deleted scenes, a blooper reel hosted by Marv Albert, and two ESPN SportsCenter specials -- one a "fictitious biography" on the film's Joe Kingman, and the second a comical look at The Rock learning to play football.

Exclusive to the Blu-ray edition will be an additional feature that Disney has dubbed "Chalk Talk," an interactive video Q&A featuring both Johnson and the film's director Andy Fickman.

Tech specs include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround audio at a hefty 48kHz/24-bit.

Disney has set a retail price for the Blu-ray of $34.98.

I wouldn't even waste a BOGO free pick on it. But that's me.

BTW, this doesn't prove that the Rock's appeal goes beyond "testosterone-fueled action-fest," because it's a sports movie, which is the same demographic.

But, I'm nitpicking.

Yeah, I'm not saying the movie is trash, because I haven't seen it.

If you like what the Rock is cooking, this is a movie for you I guess.

I took my daughter to see it at the theater and she liked it. It's a cute family movie and all of you saying you won't buy it need to support your format of choice.

Some top movies based on 3D alone: Resident Evil: Afterlife, Avatar, Step Up 3D, How to Train Your Dragon. Projector Guy. I enjoy all my movies on a projector. 120" minimum size. The way it was meant to be. :)
