Default Knight Rider

Looks like they are making a Knight Rider Movie now

Quote:
One of the producers of the original Arrested Development and My Name is Earl will bring the classic 1980s TV series Knight Rider to the big screen.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Brad Copeland (whose writing credits include The In-Betweeners and the features Wild Hogs and Yogi Bear) has been hired to adapt the Glen Larson-created show for the big screen, which is "being conceived as a somewhat higher-budget, more action-oriented movie than Weinstein's typical prestige fare."

The paper cites the global success of Fast & Furious 6 as a likely impetus for the renewed feature film development of this would-be blockbuster.

As the Times points out, the big challenge won't be finding someone to fill Michael Knight's (David Hasselhoff) leather jacket, but rather making the talking KITT car seem impressive by today's Siri standards.

Here's hoping the big screen version fares better than the short-lived 2008 TV reboot.
RIP Navster

Why do I picture them doing this as a wacky comedy featuring like Marlon Wayans?

This scares me. Because I loved the original series, and I hated the new show from a few years ago. I just dont want it to be terrible.

No one watched the new show on TV for free so now they think people will pay $20 to see a movie of it in the theater?

The new show was too focused on teen-angst and drama. If they tried again for the original series, it's probably be good.

Sci-fi good, campy bad.
Every Blu-ray should have a Play-All option for special features and every player should have 1.5x playback.
Every Blu-ray should come in a Viva Elite case with thick stock artwork and a slipcover. Each disc should have its own hub.
Dark HDR titles exist: Compare Star Trek Beyond 4K to the BD or any other Trek UHD. 10-15% are dark.

That's because the newer TV show had Kitt as a Mustang (a serious blasphemy) they should keep the car in the GM family and make it the new corvette or something like that.

If they want to pull this off they should take the whole Transformers bumblebee and young actor (like Shia) angle. Have the lead be thrown into some sort of situation where the car helps bale him out...etc...etc...

The car being a Mustang was the least of that shows problems. IN the two hour movie pilot, the car did nothing but drive all the time. No jumps. Nothing. Just driving. Robot Chicken actually had a really funny skit where they make fun of the same thing.

The voice of KITT was also terrible and boring. And there were way too many characters. It should be mainly the guy and his car. Not a team of like 50 dudes back at the base.

as long as they still have the evil twin Garth, with the goatee... along with the evil KITT car, KARR.

Good lord... as a kid I loved this show, but whenever I catch an episode on late night tv now, it's just painful to watch. Yikes...

I don't know if anyone here watches AMCMovieTalk on Youtube, but last week they got an email about the possibility of a Knight Rider reboot movie and one of them came up with the idea of a HARD-R movie in the vain of 21 Jumpstreet. Since I heard that it has been all I want. When I heard this movie was actually happening I got excited. If that is not the route they go with it I am completely uninterested.

I've tried to watch those a couple times. But the people on there are just horrible. Half the time they don't even know what they're talking about, and a good chunk of the time they say things that are flat out incorrect.

I'd rather see Knight Boat.
