Default Slovak cinema on Blu-ray

A very first Slovak movie on the Blu-ray will be Signum Laudis (The Medal) by Martin Hollý shot in 1983.

Thanks, although I've never heard of this film before. Any thoughts?

Also - do you have a link for pre-order?

From what I understand this Slovak based site does ship to all countries. As you can see they offer the standard dvd but the blu-ray won't be available until June 22, 2015. Hope this helps.

I've had the same issue with their website as well BarnDoor. If you Google Translate their help page they do say you can write them via email and tell them what you wish to order and they'll get back to you about how to pay them etc. I haven't done that yet but will attempt to write them as well. There's another posting I had related to this film where I show another website in Slovakia, but they only show the standard dvd. Stay tuned, I'll update as I get word from them.

Look what finally arrived in my mailbox. It wasn't an easy purchase since the Slovak Film Institute won't accept checks or paypal or credit cards. One must send a money transfer to the Statna Polkadnica bank. Once you fill out their request form on their website they'll send you an invoice with all the particulars. It is Region A-B-C encoded. Has a dual language 12 page booklet (english/czech). The extras on the blu-ray are some black & white stills, some background text on the film. The film looks to be in the 1:33 ratio. Here are some screen captures.

Yes, I stand corrected. I tend to get those languages mixed-up. Everything is in the Slovak language, but am so glad how this is english friendly and is Region A-B-C encoded. The booklet has both English and Slovak script about the background of the film.

My very first order of Signum laudis at Klapka.sk was a frustrating experience. My physical Visa card couldn't be used for TransferWise service so I have had to transfer money to virtual Visa card and paid with it.
In the end of day they sent me DVD instead of Blu-ray.
