I'm wondering whether Valmont is likely to have forced French subtitles. Any views? What's Pathé's track record like in this respect?

Thanks for the information - any word on the Region Code for these titles?

They're all apparently Region Free. Hopefully someone can confirm this and also whether there is any problematic PAL content, but it looks like these releases will be good for everyone.

I'm still wondering whether Valmont, as the only English-language film in this group, will have forced or optional French subtitles. Does anyone have any info about this?

Some reviews i've been harvesting:

Retro HD says LDV is región B, while dvdclassik states it's ABC. I count on them all being región free and with English & French subs, as stated earlier on this same thread. But one wishes the people doing online reviews would be more forthcoming about subtitles and region codings of the discs they write about, it's not like saying if you are gay and an atheist when running for office.

I mentioned on the LES MISERABLES thread the fnac.fr site lists all of the titles (except LA DOLCE VITA) as having English subtitles, but does not address the region code, so, hopefully, we are half way to the answer.

Hi, I'm Htb from Retro-HD.
I'll wish inform you that "La Dolce Vita" and "Une si Jolie petite Plage" are both region ALL (A-B-C).
Please accept my apologies.

I just want to verify does la Dolce Vita contain optional english subs? Although kind of would like a seal of approval from PROB before I order it I think the cover art for this release is very nice. I plan on placing an expedited order thru Amazon FR next week and thinking of adding this title to my order Wouldn't be hilar if I did and Criterion has it listed in their next round of annoucements haha (If they are able to secure it thru Paramount)

Hi PowellPressburger,

This release is intended only for the French territories (France/Monaco, etc). There are only French subtitles on it. Plus two tracks: French and Italian DTS-HD Master Audio.

The transfer comes from the new 4K resto.

Cool... the release does sound nice! I will hold out for a possible U.S. release.

I took a chance and ordered Demy's 3 PLACES POUR LE 26, Bunuel's LA FIEVRE MONTE A EL PAO, and LE MISERABLES - glad to report all are Region Free and have English subs.

Thanks for the confirmation. With so many good titles announced for 2014, it's good to see that at Pathé they have mended their evil ways and now deliver good transfers with English subtitles.

Hi DJANGO. As requested, the thread is moved to the sticky area. Yami, the requested titles are also coming up (one today, after MOC's Il Bidone).
