I remember watching this at the Screen on the Green in Islington with Gallo in person.
There was a Q & A after , there were certain members of the audience who didn't like the film and Gallo didn't exactly hold back when it came to offering them the exit, although he didn't exactly use polite terms if you know what I mean.
I enjoyed the film but as always I will wait for a price reduction in a few months.

It's only $10.49. How much lower do you think it will go? Hesher took years to drop. And isn't 2014 the 16th anniversary?

The picture quality on the Japanese release is FLAWLESS. The best I've ever seen for a 35 mm film other than short bits of the movie
[Show spoiler]at the dinner scene with the parents where the TV with the football game is on that look like poor DVD quality
, but I am sure that it looks like that on the film stock. I'm almost certain that it's 4K and it has an insanely high video bit rate (38 mbps). So since it's impossible for this Lionsgate release to look better, I won't be getting this release unless it has good extras.. And this movie never had extras on the previous DVD releases, other than trailers which the Japanese blu ray release has. There was also a Vincent Gallo interview on a Japanese DVD release, but that was it in terms of extras.

I've heard somewhere that Gallo recorded an audio commentary for this movie a long time ago, but Universal discarded it because he trashed Christina Ricci on it and used profanity. It would be awesome if it was included on this blu ray release, and I would definitely buy it.

It's nice to see that Lionsgate are releasing their older titles. Now please release my favorite movie of all time - Drugstore Cowboy! It's a travesty that it isn't out on blu ray yet other than in Japan (again).

Yes! Great news.

Love all three features he's directed, as well as his some of his performances in other films (especially Essential Killing and his films with Claire Denis). I know we'll never get Promises Written in Water on blu, but maybe Brown Bunny someday!

If you're a big fan of this film and/or Gallo, this is well worth watching; a critics roundtable where Gallo waits in the wings as critics dissect the film, and then emerges from behind the curtain to surprise the critics and dissect them:

I've seen Buffalo 66 on DVD, and he made numerous disparaging, homophobic remarks against gay men in the movie, including other bigotry statements towards other people as well. I can very well understand the negative controversy, and animosity in the gay community concerning this film. Considering Vincent Gallo have written, starred and directed this movie, there is a strong possibility, the character he portrayed in the movie, could be exactly how Vincent Gallo truly feels about homosexuality in real life. Personally, I think the guy is a arrogant jerk, and I wouldn't buy a 5 cent paper bag to help support him, lest buying any of his movies because, he really think his s**t don't stink. He behaves exactly the way he looks - psychotic!

I already have the Japanese disc. I'll stick with that unless the Lionsgate release has good extras and/or a better transfer.

No way is it going to have a better transfer. At best it's going to have the same transfer... Unless the color timing on the Japanese release was completely wrong and this new Lionsgate release has radically different, director approved color timing.

Here are some PNG screenshots of the Japanese release BTW:

It looks better in motion. You can't really see it on the screenshots, but the transfer has a layer of very fine grain that is visible in motion. In my opinion, it looks phenomenal.

The price at release isn't always the best price,it will go down in a few months.
The movie may be worth $10.49 to yourself but not myself, hence me waiting for a price reduction.
