its actually 2 years and that was in Japan. NA, I dont think ever got a release window besides 2015
True. 2015 was the original "worldwide" release date. I am pretty sure that the delay will pay off but it doesn't hurt less to wait for so long.

Actually, the mainline Persona games have had rather lengthy localization for modern standards:

Persona 3:
JP July 13, 2006
NA August 14, 2007
EU February 29, 2008
AUS March 6, 2008

Persona 3 FES
JP April 19, 2007
NA April 22, 2008
EU October 17, 2008
AUS November 13, 2008

Persona 4
JP July 10, 2008
NA December 9, 2008
AUS March 12, 2009
EU March 13, 2009

Persona 4 Golden
JP June 14, 2012
NA November 20, 2012
AUS February 21, 2013
EU February 22, 2013

The shortest wait we have had it's been around 5 months for both P4 and P4G. My guess is that even if Atlus USA starts the dubbing process early, the games are so massive that it still takes months to finish the recordings and go through QA. So the 5 month wait for P5 shouldn't really come as a surprise.

There is also Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax which are kind of like sequels, but not canon. But Atlus is getting better at not making us wait a year or so even just by looking at those Persona 4 release dates. Persona 3, FES and Portable did take a long time. Of course I am only talking about from Japan to America since Europe is usually a whole different ballgame.

These games do take a long time to translate and dub which is true(though Sega hasn't dubbed the Yakuza games since the 1st game since those game are pretty massive too. But this long delay should give Atlus USA more than enough time to translate and dub it and that it's not out yet in Japan even though America gets it in February. The 5 month wait is just a let our Japanese fans buy it and then Americans can afterwards. Persona 4 Arena was only released like 2 weeks after the Japanese release, so it became the only PS3 game to be region-locked. Ultimax was released 1 month afterwards, but was not region-locked. So this game could be released sooner in America, but in these original versions of their main Persona games, they worry more about the sales than when it gets ported these days.

As for the title of the thread, well 2013 when this was announced was a very different market for PS4 in Japan.
even if that were the case, it was never going to come to NA in 2014. It was expected in Japan in Dec 2014 at the earliest. Atlus has never done a simultaneous launch with this series so deductive reasoning would lead one to beleive it would arrive in 2015, which is the initial release window for NA they gave once they started talking about that
