Default Josh's Stereophonic Experience - Dreaming in Digital

Josh's Stereophonic Experience

~Dreaming in Digital~

My Home Theater Gallery

CURRENT ANATOMY
BRAIN: OPPO BDP-95
HEART: MCINTOSH MC352
EARS: FOCAL ELECTRA 1027 S
EYES: VIZIO M220VA

Since all the cool kids have threads in here discussing their stereo setup, I'll throw my hat in the ring. I also want a place where I can document my high resolution audio releases because, honestly, I'm starting to forget what I actually have and what I still need to find. Also, hopefully I can get some suggestions for additional content from the great members on this site.

The next additional to my setup will be finding a new amp. I love the Acurus, but the speakers are begging for more power and I'm ready to explore the full potential of these bad boys. I will be getting some sort of McIntosh amp and its just a mater of figuring out what will work with my system and what I can afford (the wife already said "no" to getting a pair of MC-1201s, sadly).

After that, I still need a new rack, acoustic treatment, and seating. I'm very happy with the Oppo and Focals, so there will be no changes there, and all changes will be based on keeping that equipment.

Thanks for looking/reading!

Nice system you have there Josh.

As you mentioned, the Focal's would probably like some more power, I imagine that adding a higher power amplifier will put you on

Thanks for the warm welcome! I look forward to diving into some of other members' threads and seeing all the great setups! I spent a little time populating my high resolution audio library to give everyone a idea of the kind of material I'm into.

Thanks, and yes, my gallery has been up since I got the Focals last year, and I'm just getting around to setting up a thread. As for the mod issue, just leave it alone and everything will go back to normal in due time. Some people just need time to cool off.

No plans. I like the ability to throw a disc into the player and know that I'm getting the same sound as I did the last time it was in the system. Its the same reason I'm going to stay with Solid State amps - I don't want to have to deal with the flexible nature of tube technology. Just not my bag, I guess.

Plus, my wife would kill me if I told her I was going on another shopping spree

Listening to the Rocket Man tonight...

It always surprises me how dynamic these older releases sound compared with newer titles. You would think with all the technological advancements they would actually improve recordings in the 30 years since this album was released, but I'd challenge anyone to find anything in the last decade that sounds as clean and crisp as this disc.

i have this on DVD-a and Harmony is absolutely haunting, the background vocals in this and the clarity of all the musical instruments are shocking.

your right, i don't understand why modern day recordings, with all the tech available to studios today, don't release better, super clear recordings. i guess that they just don't give a shit and they have a market that supports their efforts so, i guess, why spend the extra money and effort to put out superior audio?

i got nothing............
