Oh wow, did not know Barfly was on Blu-ray. Love me some Hank Chinaski (Charles Bukowski).

I used to work with a man (he retired a few years ago and now raises horses as his hobby) who used to work at the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, CA in his youth and he had some great stories about meeting and knowing Charles Bukowski while working there. He (the man I used to know) later moved down to San Pedro, CA and ended up living nearby Mr. Bukowski (total coincidence) and ran into him from time to time.

On his official facebook account Michael Dudikoff announced an upcoming blu-ray of his movie "Avenging Force". Steve James is also in the movie.

You can see a new picture there where Dudikoff and director Sam Firstenberg are doing an audio commentary especially for the new blu-ray and also for a new DVD

Cannot wait for any and EVERY Cannon release!

For some reason I was under the impression that those couple of Norris ones were essentially...`fancy bootlegs'? If any of you guys own them, would you recommend the upgrade?

`Avenging Force' - superb film, and anything with the combination of Michael Dudikoff and Steve James is a must buy for me. No `American Ninja's yet?

Just seeing that cover of `Death Wish 3' cracked me up - "He got the Giggler, man!!!"

I'm kinda disappointed in myself, I've neglected to upgrade alot of my Cannon Films VHS tapes to Blu Ray. But thanks to this thread I can focus on grabbing some of my childhood favorites. I'll probably snag Breakin' and Breakin' 2 on pay day and slowly grab the others in the coming months.

I thought I would give mention to an upcoming documentary on the Cannon legacy featuring interviews from several stars and crew members who worked on the films.

It's called "Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films"; it's directed by Mark Hartley who made the excellent doc "Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation!"

You can get all the info and updates on it over at the official FB page:

It's downright criminal that Invasion USA, Enter the Ninja, Revenge of the Ninja, Assassination, Firewalker, Hero & the Terror, Murphy's Law, Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects, the 2 Hercules films, and the 2 Allan Quartermain films aren't on Blu-ray in R1.

Still waiting for the original 134 minute version of "Superman IV," which explains all of the plot holes from the theatrical version.

Think you're gonna be waiting a while for that one.

For starters, it's probably the one of the least-demanded alternate versions ever. I just don't think you'd be able to put an online petition together that would even get WHV's attention, let alone get WHV to foot the bill.

Secondly, even though you clearly see the deleted footage as something that would improve the film, I don't think that's actually the reality of the deleted footage. Unfortunately everything I've seen or read indicates that it's more of the same old awful Superman IV.

We have deleted scenes. We have the full-length score. That's more than the film deserves and I doubt we'll ever get more than that.
