Germany Action Flick Collection (4 Movies) - CB4, 3 O'Clock High, Where the Buffalo Roam, etc

Came across yet another Edel Blu compilation disc with some Universal catalog titles contained therein. It's billed as an "Action Flick Set" though 3 of the 4 are basically comedies!

-THREE O'CLOCK HIGH (though it looks like a FIGHT CLUB knockoff/horror film judging from the packaging!)
-WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM
-CB4
-SOMETIMES A GREAT NOTION

I had no idea THREE O'CLOCK HIGH was on this disc until I read the plot description and it checks out. Certainly the artwork makes no sense, however!

I ordered a copy along with several of the other recent "Blu Ray value sets" so I'll post some comments when it materializes.

I think it's German audio only on the disc.

When I saw the cover art, I was like WTF, looked like some bad horror movie. For some reason I looked at the disc's cast list and lo and behold, it's THREE O'CLOCK HIGH! Who knows why they used that artwork -- just bizarre. Or why you'd put SOMETIMES A GREAT NOTION together with three comedies and market it as an "Action" pack. lol

Anyway, I've seen THREE O'CLOCK HIGH in HD on Netflix so even if it's that master, it'd be worth it. Hope it pans out

Got my copy in. Region free like the others -- here are some quick thoughts on the transfers:

THREE O'CLOCK HIGH - I'd probably give this a 6/6.5 on a 1-10 scale. It has good color but has been DNR'd and the source seems a little banged up. Basically looks like the Netflix HD streaming version as far as I remember. Definitely could've been better but it's still superior to the DVD and I'm guessing we won't see this anywhere else.

SOMETIMES A GREAT NOTION - this is about an 8 and comparable from what I sampled to the Shout US Blu-Ray.

WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM - in better shape than "3 O'Clock High," I'd rank this as about a 7-7.5 out of 10.

CB4 - About the same as the above, though truthfully I only watched a second or two to see what the quality is like.

Overall I was happy with the purchase for the price...as long as you know what you're getting and keep your expectations in check I'd recommend it.

Are these Region Free, non-PAL? How many discs are the movies spread across (seems like it's only 1 disc for 4 movies per Amazon.de)? English audio and subs? Thanks

They're all AVC encoded 1080p transfers with Dolby Digital soundtracks on 1 disc. English audio, removable German subs.

Just got my copy in today.
Here's a pic of the main menu, sorry if the quality isn't so good (I don't own a capture device or a laptop with a BD drive, so this was the best that I could do).

Here's what the disc looks like
2015-04-01 16.58.19.jpg
Very plain disc art, it's got one of those white borders along the outer edge like a TT disc, no mention of any of the movies on it.

This is what the spine looks like.

(I thought that smudge at the top was a printing error or something, but it's on the reverse side as well so I guess it's supposed to be there for whatever reason)

I know some people have been waiting for this info: I can confirm that this disc does have the orginal audio track for "Where the Buffalo Roam" (at 0:5:40 Hunter turns on his stereo and Bob Dylan's "Highway 61" starts playing. It's some other song on the Universal DVD that I own).

Original audio on Where the Buffalo Roam is worth a purchase. Wonderful news!

Thanks for the info. Looks like a worthwhile set to buy. I saw the pics of the front cover and thought that it included some torture porn horror film. I can't believe that's actually Three O'Clock High! I already have Sometimes A Great Notion but I don't mind selling that because the Shout release is kind of lousy anyway, Where The Buffalo Roam is definitely the headliner on my this disc. Again, thanks for doing the legwork for us on this.

Just ordered this. Primarily for Where the Buffalo Roam...which isn't a great movie, but Murray is great, and the soundtrack is great (and included, which is the main thing). As a huge HST fan, I can't pass it up. None of the other three flicks are bad either, in my opinion, so it's a good purchase.

Just tried to watch Buffalo and CB4 but couldn't find any other language than German and no popup menu (my Samsung PVR BD-player also lacks Audio button )

Doh, forgot to take the disc to my other appartment to check out the disk with my player that do have the Audio button for trying to swith audio to English.

Can someone please confirm that the case is this, that you need a player with Audio button or could there be some discs having English (and German) and some having only German?

I checked and it looks like you do have to have an "audio" button on your remote in order to change the language. That's the only way I could find to change it.
