Just read full review of Corpse Bride and High def SAYS ITS PERFECT.
Detail and depth are also master class. A noticeable improvement over the standard-def release, the finest details of the animation are clearly visible, from the fine etchings on picture frames to the flowing, intricate stitching of the Corpse Bride's bridal gown. I was also impressed by how three-dimensional the image appears. I don't recall a single shot ever looking anything less that eye-popping, and the transfer does not suffer from any inconsistencies in sharpness -- which is rather surprising for a stop-motion animated film. This is what I like to read. With these kind of reviews HD DVD has lost its only advantage. Looking forward to tomorrows reviews on the Disney reales |

I am glad it looks good.
One question will be the extras on this disc vs the (for some reason?) delayed HD DVD. Though if VC-1 is used, I am sure that there is a lot of room on both BD and HD DVD DLs...

All the extras that are on the dvd version are on this disc, It is indeed encoded in VC 1. Wasn't planning on this title but just might have to bite.

I haven't seen the HD DVD. But based on Peter's review and past comparisons between Warner's dual-format releases, I would think so.

MS is getting what they REALLY have wanted out of all of this: Most of the studios taking on their VC-1 codec. Watch the royalties flow in. MS wins either way.
I think this "format war" will be over real soon. MS doesn't care about HD-DVD. They care about VC-1 above all else.
