The label has confirmed that the upcoming release will be the first in a planned series that will comprise the largest collection of Joseph Sarno films under one label. Contributing to the series are Tim Lucas, noted film critic and editor of Video Watchdog, who will provide liner notes; and Joe's widow Peggy Steffans Sarno, who will provide context and invaluable insight into Joe's process.

ABOUT THE FILM MEDIA PROJECT

The Film Media Project is dedicated to preserving, restoring and raising awareness of obscure and outstanding examples of independent cinema shot on motion picture film.

Conceived and initiated in 2016, the Film Media Project is the brainchild of company director Michael Raso who has dedicated his life to working with film. A professional cinematographer, editor and producer, Michael understands all aspects of film media from production through media management and distribution. Michael personally oversees the restoration and transfer to high definition of all films in the Film Media Project archive.

ABOUT THE JOSEPH W. SARNO FILM LIBRARY

The Joseph W. Sarno Film Library – the Film Media Archive currently includes the largest collection of films by erotic auteur Joseph W. Sarno. Restoration of the library to high definition media is scheduled to begin Spring of 2016, and will be managed by Michael Raso with assistance from Joe's widow, Peggy Sarno.

About Joseph W. Sarno (d. 2010) – an American film director and screenwriter, Joe Sarno emerged from the New York sexploitation film scene of the 1950s and 1960s and wrote / directed approximately 75 feature films including the internationally renowned Sin in the Suburbs and Inga. Often referred to as "the Ingmar Bergman of 42nd street", the last 12 years of Joe's life heralded a new appreciation for his body of nuanced and highly stylized erotic dramas, culminating in a series of screenings and awards at the Lake Placid Film Festival, the British Film Institute, the Turin Film Festival and the Warhol Museum among others. It was during this time that Joe Sarno and Michael Raso forged the close working relationship that would result in the location, purchase, and restoration of many of his existing films, and the production of Joe's final feature film in 2004.

Note: this appears on their website as well, so assumedly it will be another upcoming BD release:

"Power is a theme in many of my films: people have power over others just by force of will and their overwhelming personalities.
I'm a great believer in the force of will." - Joe Sarno

I just ran across this news. This label has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing them explore some cult oddities in the near future!

A few Facebook updates I missed:

5/6:

Quote:
Breaking News - The Film Media Project announced a collaboration with Something Weird Video resulting in an additional seven Joseph W. Sarno films scheduled for restoration and HD remaster in 2016 / 2017.

Spanning the mid-1960s through the early 1970s, the Something Weird Video additions include Sin in the Suburbs (1964), Pandora and the Magic Box (1965), Desire Under the Palms (1968), Odd Triangle (1968), Vibrations (1968), Love in the Third Position aka Siv, Anne and Sven (1971), and Young Erotic Fanny Hill (1971). Together with the existing prints in the Film Media Project archive, they provide a cinematic snapshot of the changing social mores and sexual politics of this important era in American exploitation and sexploitation filmmaking.

5/26:

Quote:
Confessions of a Young American Housewife is one of many of the Joe Sarno films getting the HD treatment in 2016

6/21:

Quote:
Work continues on the HD Joe Sarno film library. Updates coming soon. Pictured: Colorist Dave Northrop / Abigail Leslie trailer.

Still no Amazon pre-order for the 10/11 Sin You Sinners/Vampire Ecstasy disc, but this is apparently the cover, and it's being distributed by something called 'Camp Motion Pictures':

They're just focusing on Joe Sarno films (for now?), but it would be great if they expanded to other Something Weird titles in the future.

Looks as though they've signed with Film Movement for distribution -- and, unfortunately, cover design...

Well, at least they didn't use whichever lunatic designed the two Kitano covers, which look like they were crudely scrawled by a color-blind junior high student! Perhaps these will be reversible? The previous illustration I linked earlier would be a marginal improvement. And who puts pull quotes on the front cover like that?

From the news section:

Quote:
U.S. label Film Media has confirmed that it plans to bring to Blu-ray two more films directed by Joe Sarno: A Touch of Genie (1974) and Deep Throat Part II (1974). The two films will be available to purchase on Blu-ray in early 2017.

Deep Throat Part II

Synopsis: When one of sex therapist extraordinaire Linda's patients turns out to be harboring the plans to a top-secret government computer, both the KGB and the CIA attempt to enlist Linda in their efforts to steal the data. A zany comedy part James Bond, part Marx Brothers - all Linda Lovelace! Starring Linda Lovelace, Harry Reems, Levi Richards, David Davidson, Andrea True, and Chris Jordan. NEW 2K RESTORATION.

A Touch of Genie

Shmendrik Melvin can't get laid... until a genie in an old tin bottle grants him five sexy wishes. Join hardcore favorites Tina Russell, Marc Stevens and the incomparable Ultramax in this softcore cut of Joe Sarno's I Dream of Jeanie send-up. Starring Chris Jordan, Harry Reems, Douglas Stone, Tina Russell, Marc Stevens, and Ultramax. NEW 2K RESTORATION.

They were asked about the 'softcore cut' issue on FB, but no response as of yet.

The cheapest pre-order price appears to be $25.99 at Diabolik. (Amazon is $29.99 and DD $32.03, though it will be $23.20 plus tax from B & N with the current 20% off coupon after release.)

DVD Drive-In review

Unfortunately Sin You Sinners looks to be in pretty rough/unrestored shape (at least judging by the review, as the screencaps themselves - if that's what they even are - are minuscule and unilluminating, though the previously-linked Mondo-Digital review has several caps, all displaying negative scratches and print damage), but I suppose one can view the film as an extra/supplementary feature of sorts to Vampire Ecstacy, and Film Media have ported all of the previous DVD extras for the latter film, and added a commentary and booklet.
