I'll reserve too. This'll take a bit.
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

I feel like we've done this a few (dozen) times, but sure why not.
  • My list is not final until deadline. I will probably be tweaking and moving films on the list.
  • In anticipation of the criticism I know will come, yes, my favorites skew more recent - almost entirely 70's and later. Deal with it It's my list. Make your own.
  • Also to head off criticism: I am interpreting this as my "favorite" movies, not like the technical "best" movies. So while I agree a movie like Citizen Kane or The Godfather, for example, may be considered benchmarks of cinema, they're not on my list based on personal tastes and enjoyment.

Well, that's the thing. If I'm not mistaken, this is the very first non-themed and unrestricted one in many years. Just an all time voting, no limits.

Just like AFI updates occasionally to include new films and changing tastes, I imagine each of ours changes as well

Would love to pitch in on the writing/accounting aspect, but I'm not sure I'll be able to. Chances are very good I'll be moving in the September/October timeframe.

Just like AFI updates occasionally to include new films and changing tastes, I imagine each of ours changes as well
The last all-inclusive list was several years ago and only a little over 20 people participated. I think we can do much better. This is a group effort.

You can make your individual list 25-50 movies long, then all lists will be counted and the results given as a top 100.

You can write something now and PM it to me. I will hold on to it and pass it along to esteban² for inclusion in the big reveal of the final results when he is ready.

I am glad this is a "favorite" film list rather than a "greatest" or "best" list as it will make it easier to compile a list without worrying about whether guilty pleasures should be included.

This will take a little bit of time for me but looking forward to it.

I am sure people will utilize all sorts of different criteria when making their lists, which is why the results will be so interesting. That is why we decided to allow up to 50, so everyone could include a little of everything that is important to them.
