I bought and watched Ocean's 13 this weekend. What a disappointment!
herer is my take: It won't take more than a minute to figure out there is something wrong with the PQ. No, in second thought, there is nothing wrong. It is simply horrible. The worst I've seen on blu-ray. What a waste. The Sound is just as bad. Dolby 5.1 only! And then, then is the plot... C'mon, these are great actors... what where they thinking? Final words: don't waste your time or your money.... ah; do not try to adjust your television. It is simply that bad... The colors are oversaturated...this is a BD with VHS quality! What do you think?

There are many existing threads discussing the release, here is the trilogy one: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=24493
Yes, the BD looks like it did in theaters (and much better than the DVD release)... like it or not. The soundtrack mix is far from demanding. (Feel free to want Lossless, but it isn't going to change the mix.) |

the PQ looked over-saturated... i don't know if it's the effect they want but the colors don't blend well... also, the contrast isn't very good... I bought the whole Ocean's set coz my family really likes the movies, but it's the one set of movies in my Blu collection that I am embarassed to show to my family. It doesn't live up to the quality we come to expect from Blu.

I've seen worse, such as 28 Days Later.

that makes sense since that movie was filmed with low-budget standard-def cameras, no way it's gonna look good. I've been going back and forth on Ocean's Thirteen though. I have Eleven and Twelve on DVD, and I can't decide if I should just get Thirteen on DVD since everyone says the PQ sucks so bad, and it'll match with the rest of my set, or get the boxed set, or just get it on Blu-Ray. Thirteen was my favorite of the three though, of course I'm a sucker for Al Pacino.

two words:
"directorial intent" the graininess and super-saturated colors look exactly as i remember them looking in the theater. i'm personally just as pleased now as i was then with the movie. again, howsabout a stickied "directorial intent" thread about movies like O13, 28 weeks, 300 etc?
