Default The Apartment (1960) (Remastered)

Coming in December. Yes, in the US too.

Big news.

Quote:
Synopsis:
In 1960, following on from the success of their collaboration on Some Like it Hot, director Billy Wilder (Ace in the Hole, Sunset Boulevard) reteamed with actor Jack Lemmon (The Odd Couple, Glengarry Glen Ross) for what many consider the pinnacle of their respective careers: The Apartment.

C.C. “Bud” Baxter (Lemmon) is a lowly Manhattan office drone with a lucrative sideline in renting out his apartment to adulterous company bosses and their mistresses. When Bud enters into a similar arrangement the firm’s personnel director, J.D. Sheldrake (Fred MacMurray, Double Indemnity), his career prospects begin to look up… and up. But when he discovers that Sheldrake’s mistress is Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine, Irma la Douce), the girl of his dreams, he finds himself forced to choose between his career and the woman he loves…

Winner of five Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, The Apartment features a wealth of Hollywood’s finest talent – on both sides of the camera – at the top of their game. By turns cynical, heart-warming and hilarious, Wilder’s masterpiece now shines like never before in this all-new, 4K-restored edition from Arrow Films.

Oh wow, I absolutely love that cover art. This is my third favorite Wilder. I'm definitely going to double dip.

Wow didn't see this coming. Will definitely be picking it up. I'm also glad to not have that terribly dopey cover from the original release.

I'm in, but I'm surprised we're getting a double dip on "The Apartment" before "The Lost Weekend" has hit our shores at all.

Time to sell my original release. This Arrow release is a must-have!
Luke Skywalker: The Force does not belong to the Jedi. To say the Jedi dies, the Force dies is vanity. Can you feel that?

VERY surprising to me. I'm all in, this is probably my favorite Wilder film, and I haven't upgraded the DVD.

Wow, definitely very surprising but great news. Never bought the first release, so it's a no-brainer for me.

I wonder why they didn't include this with last week's Dec announcements? This is very exciting news!

Arrow Video and Arrow Academy announcments are usually split across a weekend.

If this was a Criterion release, we'd already have three people complaining about them re-releasing a movie already on BD

Still early in the day, still early in the day.

No griping from me, though. This is a really exciting release. Those supplements—a book!—look great.

I am here for this!!!! I wish the screenplay was included in the book, but that’s my only gripe, and that would have made the packaging bigger.

D1. An all time favorite of mine. Lemmon is wonderful, MacMurray is excellent, too, but Maclaine is just beyond amazing in this.
