I want to see an edition from jb or sanity with steelbook and blaster gun as a special edition.
There is one available overseas but expensive which i was going to pre order but as it has a replica gun could be issues when it arrives in australia.
Jb didva phaser gunva few years back so dont know why the cant do that. Im sure it do very well here.
I have contacted marketing to consider hopefully they do maybe everyone else should do same. As one guy will not make a difference but many might make it happen.
Its very rare to see jb doing any special editions these days maybe the could start with that.

Looks like this is coming out on Blu-ray 3D as well:

Also seems the release date has been brought forward a week so I've changed details in OP to reflect this.

Saw it twice in the cinema (VMAX). The story has lots of problems, but the movie itself still has a magical X-factor about it that gives it rewatch longevity.

Not really a fan of that image. (My comments here.) Definitely like the similar poster though:

I was hoping JB Hi-Fi might do a steelbook release of this one, to sit beside my SB of the first film. I know there's a UK SB, but it's too pricey, mostly because it's 3D (which doesn't interest me, so I don't really want to pay a premium for it).

I spoke with JB, and they said the best thing to do was wait until the amaray is released, and then ask them to do an SB and they might consider it. Doesn't seem likely to me.

Looks like the release date for this is now January 17th, going from the POS material hanging in a couple of JB stores.

Still debating on whether to get the 3D Blu-ray or the 4K or both!

Im out of the loop on this release, so are we getting the UHD with Dolby Vision as per the UK, or without it like the USA?

And does anyone know if any releases will have the full height frame from the IMAX release, or are we stuck with 2.35:1 scope version?

99% sure it'll be the UK disc, since it's distributed by Sony over there and Sony-Universal here, but it's Warner Bros in the US.

Back cover of the UK release says 2.40:1, so most likely will be fixed ratio.

Just picked up the 4K version today. If you're after the JB exclusive bonus disc, be careful to get the one that says "...+BONUS DISC" on the front cover, as my local had ones with and without for the same price.

Cover states Dolby Vision on the 4K

I've nearly been caught by that a couple of times - super annoying!

Dolby Atmos on the 4K, DTS-HD 5.1 on the BD and 3D.

Apparently the UK 3D disc only got Dolby Digital! To make things even weirder, the local one is 24-bit for the 3D and 16-bit for the 2D. Seems like they're just rolling dice at Sony to decide which audio format to use on all these different discs

35 minutes. At least itís a Blu-ray and not a DVD.

For those who want 3D, Sanity sells it for $31.99 which is cheaper than JB. Best deal weíll get until the next 20% off at JB.

Well it does say "over an hour" on the regular one so it's not really misleading. It's only misleading if they include audio commentaries in the total runtime, like on some of those old DVDs where it would say "over 5 hours of bonus content" when there was really a couple of commentaries and a 1-hour making of or something like that

Technically “over 90 mins” is correct. The movie disc has half an hour of behind the scenes featurettes and the prologues, which are nearly half an hour altogether.

Add the bonus disc and it’s a bit over 90 mins. But a third of that is the prologues, which is misleading.

Considering the original film has one of the most definitive special features packages in film history, this is a letdown.

Unfortunately its Dolby Digital on our 3D as well. Albeit at 640kbps.
That there is one damn fine coat you're wearing.

4K UHD - The Experts Agree, Occasionally it's a little better!

For Sale: Alfred Hitchcock Boxed Set (AU), Jacques Tati Collection (AU), Warner 50 Film Collection (AU), Hammer Horror Collection (AU)
