Description

Robots who have been programmed to teach and discipline students in a violence-prone school turn homicidal, and the students must fight back to save their lives.

PRODUCT DETAIL
The time is the future, and youth gang violence is so high that the areas around some schools have become “free fire zones” into which not even the police will venture. When Miles Langford (Malcolm McDowell), the principal of Kennedy High School, decides to take his school back from the gangs, robotics specialist Dr. Robert Forrest (Stacy Keach) provides “tactical education units.” These human-like androids have been programmed to teach and are supplied with weapons to handle discipline problems. These kids will get a lesson in staying alive!

Is that the one where Punks and Rockers have taken over the school and one teacher tries to bring discipline to the unruly students, and there's like this big ol fistfight on the roof at the end? The one with Roddy Mcdowall carrying a gun?

EDIT - No, I guess not:

(So what the hell movie was I thinking of then?)

(Also, 1999 looks pretty damn awesome!)

Oh yeah, that's the one I was thinking of! Totally not Class of 1999 at all.

Oh hell yeah. I've got a couple copies on DVD, this is a great flick.

I wish they'd put out the sequel The Substitute with Sasha Mitchell as well.

Anyone know if this will be the uncut version? The one listing I saw for it has it listed as R-rated. I sure hope this is the same uncut version that was on the dvd and not the R-version.

I'm assuming it's a typo as they are good and knowing to release stuff uncut vs cut as they spent a long time searching for Slaughter High. I hope I am worrying for nothing.

I haven't jumped on a ton of the Vestron releases yet (expensive in Canada) but I'm on this one for release for sure.

Ditto. I wish they included the sequel as well. I've never seen it, but it would make this, and SF's Class of 1984, a complete franchise set.

From DVD Newsflash's Facebook:

"Michael Felsher states: "Hey everyone, pass this around if you can...I want to clarify that the upcoming CLASS OF 1999 Blu-ray from Vestron is indeed the UNCUT version that was previously available on DVD and on VHS back in the day. This is a new transfer taken from the inter-negative and it matches the uncut version. The R rating on the packaging does not mean that this is a censored edition in any way. So you can all rest easy, those few extra seconds of cyborg-related mayhem are present in the upcoming disc.

Why not pair it with the sequel like they did with Waxwork, Wishmaster, Warlock, etc? Disappointing.
