Default 5.1 via ATV 4K? Please help.

Looking for some help here.. I'm not super knowledgeable about this kind of stuff. I have an ATV 4K, an older (circa 2010) Panasonic HTiB which has a Bluray player doubling as a receiver, and a Samsung plasma which does not have an ARC input and apparently does not support 5.1 pass-through with digital audio output. Am I SOL for getting 5.1 sound through my ATV 4K now?

The ATV is connected by HDMI to the TV along with the Bluray player and a Nintendo Switch. I have a digital audio cable going from Bluray/receiver to the TV as this seems to be my only option. I don't believe it has an HDMI out either.

I'm in the market for a new sound system so I may have to do that if I want 5.1? And on that topic, any suggestions for a soundbar system that comes with a wireless sub and rear speakers?

If the ATV and HTIB have optical in, go direct from the ATV to HITB. If they don't, I'm unsure if you can get 5.1.

Samsung has soundbars that have wireless rears and sub. I listened to one once that had Atmos and it sounded pretty good.

Best of luck to you.

New ATV doesn’t have optical.
