Default Hopefully this quells the FOX rumors

From Bill Hunt

Quote:
Finally, as to these rumors about Fox... does anyone REALLY believe Fox would have flipped to the HD-DVD camp after all their talk about how important Blu-ray's added BD+ copy protection was? As some of you might recall, Fox actually delayed releasing titles on Blu-ray for a period of many months last year in order to wait for BD+ to be finalized. And all this was happening while AACS decryption keys were being extracted from HD-DVD releases and posted online. Fox has been one of the most vocal supporters of Blu-ray. The idea that they would suddenly flip to HD-DVD exclusivity, when software of their preferred format is not only more protected in their eyes but has also been outselling HD-DVD for over a year now, is completely absurd. That would be like a marathon runner with a significant lead at mile twenty-four suddenly deciding to sit down for a coffee break before finishing the race. The belief that Fox was about to go HD-DVD only may simply have been a case of wishful thinking, but wishing does not make it so.

As it happens, I've actually spoken about this today with Fox's senior VP of corporate and marketing communications, Steve Feldstein, who echoed something Warner's Ron Sanders has also said in recent days: "The kind of money they're talking about [in these stories] isn't worth jeopardizing a multi-billion dollar business." In other words, payoffs would not have impacted Fox and Warner's decisions. Feldstein also told me that when The Pittsburgh Post Gazette piece broke, he contacted Lindich immediately to let him know that he was being misled by someone. When Don posted the same piece on his own blog, it was edited to reflect this. Specifically, the references to $120 million and $500 million payoffs were gone - something that's worthy of note.

Well, I guess that's good news for your average reader who actually deals with logic. However, this isn't going to change a single thing for HD DVD zealots.

It's not just about logic (which should have been enough, granted ), but Bill says that he specifically talked to a Fox VP who clearly denied (and even called the author of the article) the payoff, for the same reason Warner refused it.

I'm glad they addressed it though. Give us something to reference.

I'm really wishing I could have eaves-dropped on this call... it's actually quite diplomatic the way it's written above, but i'm wonder how it really turned out.

edit: Sadly, the other mis-informed article will get more airtime than this one.

Yeah, I also found it extremely hard to believe Fox would suddenly switch due to some money. Especially after their whole DRM thing with Blu-Ray.

These rumors and lies are all meant to psychologically wear down the public into believing that Blu-ray is just winning by the "skin of its teeth" and "the dominos might suddenly fall the other way". Just propaganda to spread more FUD and stop the mass adoption of HDM optical media.

I mentioned how illogical this rumour was just based on the timing when it first came out.

However because a certain "insider" over at AVS said it was so, my opinion and facts were deleted without word or warning.

It's been said Fox were talking to HD DVD since "early October" which is such a ****ing load of shite it's not even funny.

Fox's first titles after their break came out on Oct 2nd, 2007. The big BD+ crack (which wasn't a crack anyway) was announced on October 30th. The ONLY reason they'd consider it would be because of BD+ not working and they're certainly not going to read Slysoft's site and say "oh well, that's it I guess" are they?

Complete fabricated bullshit from the HD DVD Propaganda Group as usual. You shouldn't need Steve Feldstein's word to realize that much, although it's good to hear him echo the COMPLETELY OBVIOUS sentiment of Warner, that a multi-billion dollar stream of revenue is not worth jeopardizing.

So, I post this over at avsforum to see if they would flip out. Here is the link: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=978298

Note how I ended the post:

Quote:
Source: http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents

Note: This was not posted to start arguing with whether this is true or not. I have been browsing these forums for quite sometime, and really appreciate how many people enjoy HD content. This was in no way posted to start a flame war. I did a search on this topic, but did not find one, so sorry if this had been posted. Thank you.
Then, the first response I get is this:

Quote:
Should be lockdown shortly for billy bits nonsense.
---

Now, I have a few questions:

1. Do they or are they that morbidly obsessed with denying the truth?
2. Are they that paranoid that I was these to start a fight? (Truthfully, I am not. I just wanted to let them know about the article.
3. How can a site/forum with that many people and members, be that stupid? I have heard some things about that forum, but I thought with that many people, there has to be some normal and knowledgable people over there realizing that I didn't want to start an argument.)

I'm curious if I will get "disiplined" over there with a ban or something?

Quite a sad bunch of people over there...

EDIT: After about 10 minutes of abscence, they deleted about 15-20 posts. Sad...
