Default Will there be a Blu-ray release of Super Bowl 42?

I would prefer to purchase a 720p Blu-ray video of Super Bowl 42 instead of the 480p DVD currently available (perhaps with highlights from the Giants 2007 season). Do you think the NFL/FOX will release a high-definition video soon ?

They know a lot of us Giants fans own flat panels with Blu-ray players attached (or will soon) here in New York/New Jersey.

It was broadcast in 720p on FOX, but the release would probably be 1080p. I currently have a 720p HDTV so for me it would be 720p, but the 2nd HDTV I plan to get in a couple of months to replace my living room Sony CRT will be 1080p.

I get a kick out of your member name. When I'm in Germany, I usually have the Dampfnudel desert with hot vanilla sauce.

I will buy it. Maybe if enough of us post a reply, someone will notice and get the word to NFL/FOX.

I'm in, even though I have it on HD tivo. I would like it with the narrator from HBO's Inside the NFL.

Default Superbowl on Blu-ray

How about writing NFL Films to ask them.

I wouldn't buy it.

Now if they'd release Kerry Wood striking out 20 Astros including the killer B's, with only one hit, no Base on Ball's, no Earned Runs...THAT I would buy.

I see no reason for it to not be released on Blu ray. It was the most watched Superbowl ever and the 2nd most watched Tv event behind the season finale of MASH.

Warner has the rights to all NFL and NHL titles. They should consider releasing an entire season of a team in HD.

A DVD can be cranked out very quickly, they simply cannot make a blu-ray that fast.

I wouldn't even want to think about what a "season box" of a team's NFL games would cost on licensing alone

The network that produced the show has to be paid, the announcers because a new contract would have to be signed (something like that is not included in the standard) etc

Seriously, I think it'll be at least 3-4 years before you get a "best-of" release like that of a single team

The rights that Warner has for the NFL are not all inclusive.
The NFL is very anal retentive when it comes to releasing their properties.
