Default IGN DMC4 review, PS3 version is better than 360 version

booo-yeah!!! take that 360

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/849/849224p4.html

In summary:
- Screen tearing in 360 version
- 3X load time in 360 version
- Jaggies characters in cutscenes in 360 version

If I remeber right this game was built on for the PS3 first, was even at one time suppose to be an exclusive, so yeah they ported it over to the 360 and it suffers a bit, not a big surprise.

PS3 also has 7.1 Linear PCM for audio; 360 version uses lossy.

i'm curious why the loading times are so different. ps3 owners have the choice of installing to the hard drive?

Yes, and ALL PS3 owners have a hard drive, so that option was not built into the 360 since it is not a standard component.

So if you don't choice Full Install, would the load times be comparable to Xbox 360 or would they still be faster?

Glad I ordered the PS3 version. This is now my second title after Burnout that I bought the PS3 version.

Granted, the added benefit of having a working PS3, while my 360 just red ringed on me for the first time after two years...is another incentive. Granted, I would've bought them on PS3 either or.

Just finished reading the review.

Both have screen tearing, Xbox 360 has a little more.

Quote:
Like most multi-console games, any review would inevitably have to come down to which system is better, and for this instance, the PS3 winds up winning out just slightly. It's not in the gameplay department, because DMC4 plays the same regardless of which system that you play on. Nor is it in the visual department, because visual issues are virtually negligible. For example, the 360 has some harder edges to some characters during cutscenes, and a little more screen tearing than the PS3 at times. The PS3 can be a wee bit darker during some scenes, though. Both systems show off a certain amount of render passing that pops into focus on sweeping vista shots, but they occur at the same time on each system and are quickly dismissed. However, observing these differences will only come via frame-by-frame analysis of each game side-by-side.

As developers really start getting accustomed to the PS3 the reviews will swing. they used to usually be slightly in 360's favor and now are becoming slightly in PS3's favor. Soon enough they will be wildly in PS3's favor. The guarantee of a hard drive, the potential to use far more space on PS3 and optimization for the cell are just too much for 360 to overcome. They had the edge for awhile but that's gone.

Even though all 360 owners don't have hard drives they should have still given the option to put it on a hard drive if you do have one, but oh well...their loss.

Also one overlooked thing that seals it for me is lossless audio on the PS3 version.

It's LPCM 5.1 on PS3, Dolby Digital 5.1 on 360.

IGN should of have given DMC 4 a 9,but instead gave it a same rating score as x box even though the ps3 version is better. It's realy stupid how they give extra points to the 360 for the tiniest of things.

i agree. if it was the other way around where the ps3 has screen tearing they would have knocked off a few points.
