Guys, I need some advice, How is the picture quality of T2? I really need to know before I get it. Give me an example of what movie does it compare to, Picture quality-wise. Should I wait until they release a different version in the future or just buy the current one?
Thanks in advance. Last edited by Grimshaw23; 02-12-2008 at 09:25 AM. |

I'm happy with it.
I have never seen it in the theater so the Blu Ray represents the best quality available. You can stick with the DVD's if you like but the Blu Ray looks good to me. -Brian EDIT- Wait a minute,.. I did see that one in the theater! It was a long time ago though. It's safe to say my local theaters aren't playing it these days so again,.. it's the best current way to watch the movie.

Far from it my friend. I have Stir of Echoes, First Blood, 3:10 to Yuma, American Psycho, King of New York and Basic Instinct released by them and those look excellent. All are highly recommended.

I'm a big Terminator fan and I am dying to get this, but not on BD25. T1 & T2 are BD25, but T3 is BD50. I'm waiting, and it could be years, but I am waiting. <drums fingers>

T2 looks better than DVD, but I get the feeling it could look better. I can see compression artifacting at times. I'm hoping for a re-release with a cleaned up transfer, better encoding, and lossless audio one day. If you're a big fan of the film, I'd still recommend it now. I definitely agree it will be re-issued one day probably with the extended version.

Hey,
Here's the catch,.. Sure, It will likely be re-issued at some point but,.. It has been in most of the BOGO sales and was widely available for $10 which is less then you can usually get the DVD for. Factor in that you can sell back your DVD copy for a few bux and you can sell back this Blu Ray Edition when the next version is released as well and there is simply no reason not to pick this title up. -Brian

I love the Terminator series, but I won't buy yet another version of the films (the current Blu-ray releases) until I have an incentive to do so. The Blu-ray versions out today all have lossy 5.1 Dolby Digital audio tracks and sub-par video mastering.
I'll just keep my DVDs until the inevitable remastered versions show up for the holiday season 2008. You know they will.

It's been out a long while in the Uk and got it when it came out. Really liked it, ultimately you've got to be realistic with these 70', 80's and early 90's movies. For the most part they were all treated like $h!te in storage and not nearlly as looked after as some of the really early works were. Things like Aliens and Terminator were poorly treated. However whilst this kind of film is never going to match up to a modern day film like your spiderman or Zodiac it's still a major step up from the DVD and it's the best thats its ever going to look in any format..which to me was a really worthwile purchase.

T2 looks good but not great. If I had it to do over again I would wait for a better transfer. This movie set a new benchmark for special effects when it came out. T2 should look close to perfect on BD, but it doesn't. I was disappointed by it.

Yea...I don't think the current blu ray version is the best transfer out there because I heard the import HDDVD version of T2 is far better in term of PQ and extra. Therefore, they didn't exactly put their best effort on this movie, which is a shame.

I'd wait and see if they will eventually release extended special edition cut which is nearly 20 mins longer. I mean there is a good chance to get a new version now with Sarah Chronicles tv show and new Terminator theatrical releases coming up.
I have been thinking about replacing my existing Terminator and T2 with blu-rays but decided to wait it out a bit...
