Now opening May 8, 2009.

Whew. So that's a big shift from Christmas of 08.

So, we won't have the Blu version released until Fall/Christmas of 09.

Hmm, I don't think a summer opening is going to be the best for this film. Would probably make more in the winter. Oh well, still looking forward to it.

It's going to have some steep competition as well between the likes of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "Avatar," to say the least.

That's what I was thinking. Plus, Star Trek, while profitable has never been as successful as the most popular franchises and therefore the competition of the summer could be brutal. I guess we will have to wait and see how it turns out.

I know right, it is as if they WANT to kill the company, with one bad decision after another. I think they are insane.

Quite the delay...I must say that I wasn't overly excited for this one anyway. But damn...glancing at that Enterprise in the trailer gave me some chills.

Well either way, by the time the movie comes out at theaters, I expect Paramount will backing blu again, then we can have a Blu-Ray master collectors set of all the films in HD. Love to see the Enterprise in HD.

Same thing happened to me. They know that Trek is pretty much dead for good if this movie flops. I have a very, very good feeling we won't be let down by this one.

I for one actually think the move is a good thing as January-February are not strong movie theater going months and this move to a "summer blockbuster date" shows confidence in the movie.

I think this new Star Trek could do more money in 3 weeks in May 09 then it could have done in 2+ Months had it came out Xmas 08.

Also GUARANTEES no DUD release

Actually... that one is a given as I don't even believe Cloverfield will ever see the light of day on DUD

A movie that opens December 25th will make MOST of it's money in January and February

I thought the move was good until I saw the release schedule Star trek will hardly be talked about. It may have the week all to itself but the week after most likely targets many of the same demographic. T4 on the other hand has like 2-3 weeks before something major comes.
