Default Converting HD to Blu-ray, is it possible?

I have been playing with DV mini cam for a while and have just bought an HD camera (Rats!!). Is there any software that will format HD recorded DV imported content to Blu-ray? In other words, can I record in HD and then edit movie and burn to Blu-ray?

If not, I will use the camera to record my suicide

The answer is yes. There are alot of NLE (non-linear editing) programs that will you to capture and edit your video. Vegas, Premiere, Avid, Edius, etc... If you want some fancy menus, etc...you'll need to author the disc which only leaves you with Adobe Encore, DVDit Pro HD or MovieFactory. But you can just put the edited clip on a disc and I think most players will allow you to play the clip, just no fancy menu.

I use the Sony HRD-SR1 handycam that records in 1080i AVCHD. If you want to burn HD content that will playback in FULL quality on Blu-ray players, then I highly suggest burning with Nero. Nero doesn't allow for much editing, but it will burn anything in HD onto regular DVD disc, that will only be playable on Blu-ray players. I've have done many test, and my full 1080i 5.1 audio shots come out beautifully on my big screen via the PS3. If you have any questions, pm me.

Default Many thanks all

This is good stuff. Thanks everybody. Can anyone suggest what they consider the best editing suit for both PC and Mac? Apart from what has already been mentioned of course.

Adobe Premier and Avid are the only two that I know that will work across platforms.

One of my relatives works for a company in Burbank, California that makes Blu- Ray and HD-DVD discs for Paramount, Warner, and New Line. He tells me that they receive the masters on Beta Digital tapes (and you thought Beta is dead) and then they convert them to Blu Ray and build menus. All the equipment is made by Sony. I don't know what kind of software they use. I assume they are all professional grade and super expensive. I don't know if there is a program available for consumers. I am sure it will eventually appear on the market at a reasonable price.
