lol VERY true. I know this is a somewhat low budget film or so it seems, but I just was wondering seeing as my little bro LOVES blu ray and I am buying all his favorites (cars, surfs up, open season, ratatouille, etc) thought I'd add this to the collection.

I have a friend that loved it, she watched it with her kid.
I might be willing to watch the DVD with her and her kids, and my kids when I have some (heh heh) but not on Blu-ray.

at least not now. Maybe when I have kids but I don't plan on that for a little while yet.

i would like to think that Uni has released some other titles by then. I would hate for them to come back and say, "we are sorry for duping you!" by giving us veggie tales

Funny name for a movie, even for Veggie Tales.
But I think blu will have to become way more popular for something like this to hit blu.

I enjoyed watching Jonah a VeggieTales movie which I added to my personal Blu-ray collection. The movie can be enjoyed by both adults and kids but the primary target audience is young children. The movie is rated G and is based on the historical Old Testament record of Jonah. Jewish children, Christian children, and families in general will enjoy the movie since it teaches children moral lessons like compassion and mercy. The Jonah a VeggieTales movie is based on the Book of Jonah in the Bible but the creators of the movie only kept the most important points in the story. The VeggieTales version of Jonah replaces humans with animated veggie characters to make the movie more entertaining for young children. There were some minor changes in the VeggieTales movie that departs from the Book of Jonah, but overall the movie appears to be faithful to the key important points of the Book of Jonah.

The Jonah a VeggieTales Movie Blu-ray edition comes with a DVD version of the movie also. I have no use for the DVD version but I compared the picture and sound quality to the Blu-ray version. The 1080P Blu-ray version was much sharper and more detailed compared to the 480i Anamorphic Widescreen DVD version. One could easily see a big difference between the Blu-ray version and DVD version when viewed on a 60 inch Pioneer PRO-141FD. Also the DVD uses a lossy 5.1 Dolby Digital sound track where as the Blu-ray 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio track is bit for bit the same as the studio master.

Jonah a VeggieTales Movie 480I bonus features are encoded on the Blu-ray disc incorrectly by Lionsgate studio’s

For all the Blu-rays, DVD’s, and Laserdiscs I own I have always watched all the extra features. The Jonah a VeggieTales Movie has 3 interesting commentary tracks. What was a big disappointment for me was that all the bonus features except for the commentary tracks was encoded incorrectly on the Blu-ray discs. The special features are 480i with a 4:3 full screen ratio and also 4:3 letterboxed. When a 4:3 image is shown on a 16:9 display black bars on the left and right of the screen are normal with a full size 4:3 image in the center of the screen. The problem is Lionsgate encoded the bonus features on the disc to display a small 4:3 image in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I have never seen a studio mess the encode so badly for a Blu-ray release when it comes to the bonus features. The image is as small as a picture and picture feature and it is located in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I tested this title on a few different BLu-ray players and displays and the problem was isolated to a bad Blu-ray disc encode. This should have been picked up by the quality control at Lionsgate before releasing the Blu-ray discs.

The problem is all the 480i bonus features on the disc was encoded to display a very small picture in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

I wonder if Lionsgate will correct this issue. I am also surprised that none of the movie reviews on this Blu-ray release discovered this issue. All the Jonah a Veggie Tales Blu-ray discs are most likely encoded with this problem for those that watch special features on the Blu-ray discs.
For those that only watch the Blu-ray movie the image and sound is excellent.

The thread for this title should be changed to say “Jonah: A Veggietales Movie”. This is the first Veggietales movie released on Blu-ray but there are several different Veggietales movies released on the DVD format.

Actually, there are only TWO movies; 'Jonah' and 'The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything.' The rest are closer to Direct-to-video DVDs or 'episodes' as some call them . But would like to see more on blu eventually.

Has there ever been a fix to the encode issue? I received my copy from Amazon the other day and discovered the whole "picture in tiny top-left corner" thing too.
