Convince me to pick up 3:10 to yuma today

Ok ill start of by saying im not a big western fan at all most of them I have seen is a total bore the only one that really stands out to me was unforgiven.
So I have been hearing alot of good things about 3:10 but what I want to know is it a total bore like some other westerns is it a movie that you can watch again please convince me to buy it today.

I am a big western fan and this movie while not bad is not a classic. But the transfer and audio is fantastic.

i say if you find westerns to be boring then go buy something else. personally I loved the film. Just by posting this I think you are saying that you are gonna buy it anyway so just get it done.

It's not an action movie if that's what you're asking. It's a well written, well directed, well acted movie - with bouts of violence.

If that's you're thing - go get it.

I'm not a big fan of westerns but I enjoyed this one. You also need to see it so you can discuss the ending.

Anyway, it still might be better to rent it first if you can just to make sure you like it.

I just want to be one of the cool people everybody seems to have this movie in here but as I said the only western I truly like was unforgiven and I hated tombstone I found it boring so what is 3:10 more similar to

I'm not into westerns, but this is a great movie, The lossless 7.1 soundtrack is cool. The scene where the indian are taking podshots at them sound great.
Kinda of a fan of Bale and crowe aint so bad of an actor... Heck its got Peter Fonda in it...

Just got it in the mail yesterday along with 300 and NCFOM. Lets just say i got a few movies to watch this weekend and in the Pathetic Month of April Bluray release wise.

Its one of the movies in blu ray that alot of the movies should take tips from,
It looks good...And sounds good...If you wanted to show off your tv and blu ray quality..And not have to pop in ratatouille or cars...especially if your showing off to adults...This and casino royale are the best ones to have.

Not to mention good story with a twist ending..I'm not too much into westerns and have watched this 3 times already. if you have surround sound and a nice tv...this movie makes a great experience...I won't lie tho i actually rented it for 4.99 at blockbuster first...But then i bought it when target had the 2 for 1 blu ray sale...I wouldve bought it just by itself tho thats how good it is in my opinion.

If you like a plot (good story) and action second then you'll like this western. A friend of mine called it a thinking persons western. If you are one of those people who think a real plot makes a movie boring with some action "here and there" then don't buy it. I saw it at the theater and thought it was a "very" good movie but I won't buy it on blu-ray just because the PQ is good. If I got it in a 2 for 1 deal or on a kick-butt sale, I'd enjoy it. I wouldn't pay 30-40 bucks for it.

I'm not a fan of Crowe, but he does an excellent job in this movie. His character is well scripted too, the dialogue he produces was incredible (and I usually don't care about that kind of thing!)
Bale was great as well. But Ben Foster was definitely out of place in this movie.... couldn't tell if he was overacting or what.... but I didn't think it was a good performance. Not so sure I liked the ending either, but overall it was a good movie. I'll watch it again just for the sound. The scene where they were blasting in the canyon was great. Those first couple of distant explosions were DEEP!

I don't like Western movies but I really enjoyed it when I rented it. Thus, I got it with the Target BOGO. Get it, U won't be disappointed.

I am not a big fan of westerns (execpt for Eastwood movies), but this BD is worthy of ownership.

Let's see.... you say you like (I think that's what you mean by "stands out" ) Unforgiven.......

Well it says right on the cover, "Best western since Unforgiven" You're the marketing people's target audience with that one!!! What more do you need!!!!!!!

I'd say, I watched it and thought..... "that was a pretty good flick" but when I re-watched it, it was even better...... and I'm not a huge Russell Crowe fan by any means.


If you don't want it, don't buy it..... rent it and watch it.... if you think you need to buy it because "everyone else is" that's a terrible reason!!! People like LOTR and Harry Potter, and I can't sit through any of those flicks.

It was part of the BOGO at Target last week. Wait for a good price but this one I enjoyed very much and I just watched it again this past weekend.

Best western since Unforgiven isn't saying much though. What westerns have come out since then??

Like a lot of others here, I too am NOT a fan of westerns. The only real western I saw was Unfogiven. Sure I saw the non-realisitc westerns, Young Guns, Quick and the Dead, etc. but 3:10 really left me feeling like this was how the wild west really was.

While the backgorund of the movie is set to a western genre, this really is a dramatic charater piecee that explores the grey and fine line between good and bad and the many assumptions about right and wrong. Crowe, was good, Bale was great, but Ben Foster is the true stand out performace in this movie. I rented it and have been wanting to buy it since it ended, thank you Target BOGO!! It's one of those movies that everyone should see at least once.

Hopefully you decide to at least rent it. 3:10 is very much along the lines of Unforgiven.

It's more a character piece that I would compare to Unforgiven or Legends of the Fall (which I both love).

I rented it and it's grown on me after the fact - to the point that I'm seriously considering adding it to my collection just in case I want to watch it again.

As someone else said, not a lot of action, but a good story. I had the chance to watch the original on Starz recently - the new one (and it's differences) make it look like Casablanca compared to the original.
