I'm going to try this again, and maybe since I actually used the right store name in the thread, the right people will notice... Anyway, I can't for the life of me remember which of you were Scandanavian Blu-ray geniuses. I purchased Running Scared on BD from Free Record Shop, I put it in my PS3 and... nothing. Just a blank screen. Does anyone know of any problems with this release? It was my understanding that the disc is all-region (it doesn't say anything on the box that I can find), so I don't think it's that. Perhaps my BD is defective? If so... I cannot seem to find the information I need to contact Free Record Shop, even when google-translated. Can somebody help?

What do you mean by blank screen exactly. It goes to play and the screen goes black, or you don't leave the XMB automatically?
The PS3 would give you a region message if it was a region problem. It does sound like a defective issue. What happens if you go back to the XMB (quit playback) and hit triangle to bring up options? To contact Free Recordshop, go to http://www.freerecordshop.com/is-bin...FormId=Damaged They are bloody slow responding though. |

Like somebody else said, if it wasn't all region, the PS3 would give us a wrong region message. But if yours did the same thing, that is certainly a bad sign. Free Record Shop got back to me and said they would be sending another one, though now I am not excited.

Hmm so two of you got the same problem. Sound more like a faulty pressing.
Keep us up to date if you can. |

I thought it wasn't locked (DVDcompare.net), but I can't check it. Whether it is locked or not, there may be something else that causes problems. Previously several titles have been released with 1080p/50 instead of the 1080p/24 by DFW. Or in case of Hero, it has been converted from 50hz to 24hz.
In this specific case the Blu Ray has 1080i/50 picture. That's why you may experience playback problems. Most Blu Ray players in the USA can not cope with that format. DVD.nl - http://www.dvd.nl//reviews.php?reviewid=3275 Quote:

FRS isn't that good in customer service. You could try bol.com or DVDoutlet for Dutch Blu Rays. Last edited by *TIMMIE*; 04-09-2008 at 12:17 PM. |

I'm telling you guys, the thing is NOT Region Locked. That is not the problem. What is the problem, I suspect, is this 50hz bullshit. Personally, I'm blaming the entire nation of the Netherlands, and it's people. Sigh. Well, FRS is sending me another copy, so I guess I'm stuck with two frisbees. I guess I could trade them in at the record shop.... but that's probably unethical, right? Dammit. I searched for information on the BD before I bought it, and couldn't find any. My conclusion is that I am stupid. I will keep you all updated when I get my new disc.

As I mentioned it is 50hz (see post above). But why are you blaming all the Dutch? Are you Nigel Powers?
You could search for a review on dvd-basen.dk or search on this forum. There are topics on Dutch releases, and I thought it was mentioned there were problems with the first releases of distributor DFW. Besides there are several Dutch forummers here, who could help you via Dutch forums (myself included). |

I have two PS3's, Region A and Region B and it only works in the Region B PS3. It's REGION LOCKED!!!!!
Running Scared was included in the first batch of releases by DFW and those were all REGION LOCKED! Having difficulties reading?

I am surprised the Region A PS3 doesn't handle 50 hz. That is a bit silly.
Nooff, is it 1080i/50hz? |

If a disc is region locked, the PS3 tells you that is the reason it will not play it. That is not what is happening. The reason it works in your region B PS3 may be because of this 50hz issue, NOT because it is region locked. If it IS region locked, why wouldn't the PS3 tell me so? Relax.
