On to the question: I recon you don't own all available Blu-ray movies, so how are you 'checking' movies that none of the Blu-ray.com moderators/developers/etc... own? What's your policy on that. And to be honest, I know that the option for users to add information to the database is only here for a couple weeks, I do feel already that it lacks a feedback system. I don't get any feedback at all as to what has been to my submissions, neither negative nor positive. Right now I just keep track of what I've submitted, but it's so difficult to actually check it. It would be much better if we can see some sort of submission control panel in the future, where we can see: - our submissions that are in the queue for moderation - our rejected submissions (complete rejection of a movie) - our accepted submissions (preferably with an option to view which fields are rejected, like the synopsis, and why) This way we do not have to keep spamming you guys in this thread and we have an easy to track record of all our submissions. That way you also prevent us to submit something for a second time, while you might think "I've rejected this before, why does he keep trying?". Last but not least: I would like to suggest something that will make your lifes easier as well. Lock the fields that are confirmed and actually checked on the disc by moderators, developers or other Blu-ray.com 'employees'. Like in your reaction above, you not that you checked with your own Blu-ray movies, so in my opinion that would make it completely useless to keep that field editable. Just lock it, so we cannot change it (or at least try to). On a personal: I check all my submission on the disc. So I can assure you that all my Dutch Blu-ray releases are 99% correct (I remain human). Again, no hard feelings whatsoever, you are doing a fantastic job, I just want to give my 2 cents if only a small part of it might help.

yours , we take your word for it
Aspect ratios are a different thing though, Thats where you are submitting incorrect specs. If a line is wrong it can be removed, we wont reject the whole listing over one incorrect spec. I dont see any issues with what you are doing, keep up the good work. If I own the disc and checked it and hes telling me its something different I believe whats on the disc wins just wanted to add, I only confirm major spec changes...Codec, OAR as they affect the written review(if one) and are very important to being accurate here. Its not like each entry is nit picked, US/UK entries should be 100% accurate, especially if they have a review attached, however we all make mistakes. There is alot of unknowns for other parts of the world Last edited by jw; 06-12-2010 at 05:58 PM. |

You do realise being able to add info to the database is a privilege, not a right. You have to expect delays, there are tons of movies being submitted all the time, people have to check them before they click 'approve' mate.

I'm well aware of the privilege and am grateful for all the hard work that must have to be put into it.

Oh by the way, my first post on this thread was at 11:47AM GMT. I think that's why I was wondering why it was taking so long. |

I would like to comment quickly here (even though Jeremy has already clarified a couple of things): 1. OAR - as noted already, quite a few people have attempted to adjust correct aspect ratios, not understanding that OAR and actual aspect ratio, as it appears on the BD release, are two very different things. Checking is needed. 2. Synopsis - quite a few people have submitted elaborate texts with plenty of spoilers. Checking is needed. 3. Ratings - a Rated R release in the US isn't a Rated R release in France, yet a lot of people copy the ratings. Checking is needed. 4. Studios - I constantly see incorrect/non-existent studios being submitted with a number of UK, French, and even Dutch entries. Example: Amazon.UK constantly lists made up studios. Checking is needed. etc. So, patience is indeed needed - on both ends - as the staff checks and approves/denies each entry, and as the developers further improve the database. Finally, a lot of people who work on the database are actually on very different time zones, and every contribution is appreciated Pro-B

It's rated "12" by the BBFC, and "12" by Film Censor's Office. "12" isn't a rating option on this site. Last edited by 4K2K; 06-12-2010 at 11:43 PM. |

I cannot answer your question as I do not know how and if the database will support ratings from all major markets. Currently we have some Australian ratings, but not complete UK and Dutch ratings. This said, what the overwhelming majority of people are interested in are having correct audio/video/subtitles/coding information, which is the reason why some submissions are approved slower than others.
