[Show spoiler]All that would do is add more time to an already long movie and show him probally stealing from wayne enterprises again as he did in Begins. All these things have been established with previous movies. You know how Bruce Wayne survived alone cause hes done it before. What would showing him getting back or on the island add. The only defense to the island was on the bridges and was the military cops keeping people in. The defense wasnt made to keep people out. The keep out threat was the bomb and thats all they needed.
What I wanted were for the people of Gotham to finally realize they NEED Batman, maybe citizens drawing those bat symbols all of the city, and Batman makes this epic comeback with the music going. But no, instead he just shows up one day as Bruce. I felt like it was a missed opportunity to do something really emotional.

Seen the movie 2 time now and want to see it again. For me it was the best of the series but very very close behind is TDK. I love the Joker, but both him and Bane are 2 different type of villains. I get why everyone loved Ledgers Joker hell I thought it was the best performance in any of the movies but you have got to give it to Hardy for doing a amazing job with his roll esp since the majority of his story telling his just through his eyes.

what is is wrong with some people this is NOT an open ending

[Show spoiler]From IMDB:

When Batman lifted the bomb using The Bat, he brought it low to the ground at first, it looked a bit like the bomb was dragging along the street, just before the plane elevated to go over that tall building. He flew low for a bit because he didn't want to eject at the very top in the air, because people would see that. He was done with Batman. That was when he set up the autopilot, took a deep breath, and jumped out. That's why he set The Bat at low altitude, so he could eject himself unhurt. The shot of him in the cockpit was when he was still over land, just before ejecting out. Nolan inserted that scene in the "over sea" part to lure the audience into thinking he died. The name of Bruce Wayne is dead. Batman is dead. The man, Bruce Wayne is still alive in Italy with Selina, clean-slate device used for both of them.

He looked cool, I like the idea of what the mask is for and glad they decided not to use Venom, and he was a badass, but I could not get used to that voice.

It's so clearly overdubbed, too loud and sounded so separate from everyone else on screen. Really odd decision. I would have rather them kept the old voice from the prologue and have it be hard to understand than make it a LITTLE easier to understand, but sound completely ridiculous.

I still liked him and the movie, I just think some aspects could have been better, and those are usually hard to find in Nolan movies, but not with this one.

I saw it for the second time today, and I absolutely loved it. I think the first time I was so engrossed and so excited to see what was going to happen next that I wasn't able to slow down and appreciate the movie as it unfolded. Where I probably would have rated this third overall, I think it's tied with BB for my favorite of the trilogy.

I still think it wouldn't have suffered from a slightly longer runtime to flesh out a few things. Just comparing to The Dark Knight Returns where Batman has also been gone for quite some time, that book makes you really feel like it's a REALLY big deal when Batman comes back.
[Show spoiler]In TDKR, there's not a whole lot of sentiment that's discussed aside from Blake's conversion with the kid and his conversation with Gordon, and Bruce seems to make the decision so easily that when he does show up, it just doesn't seem like it's as grand of a return as it should be. I could've gone with a little more runtime to put some time into the beginning of the movie to establish a bit more feeling for how long he's been gone. They SAY it's been eight years, but there's not much of a feeling for the passage of time between TDK and TDKR.

Most of the dialog I didn't care for the first time around I didn't take issue with. There is one horrible, HORRIBLE line, and that's
[Show spoiler]when Selina has Daggett pinned down and is asking him about Clean Slate and he says something like "Clean Slate? Where you type in your name, social security number and date of birth and it wipes out your entire past?" It's like they were writing the script and they were like, "how do we explain what this does? Oh **** it, let's just throw it into some dialog."

With my suggested additional runtime, I, too, would like to know how
[Show spoiler]Bruce got back to Gotham and onto the island. Not THAT big of a deal since he's Batman and he's obviously capable, but getting home from the middle east when you're broke probably ain't easy. It also would've been nice to see a little of what Alfred was up to after he left.

I was a bit confused by the
[Show spoiler]final shot we see of Batman. Is he still in the Bat, or has he already ejected? I made sure to pay very careful attention to that scene because when I first saw it I thought when they showed it he was already well over the bay and close to the bomb going off, and I was right. If they showed it early, maybe prior to him blowing up the building or going over the bridge, it would've been a little more understandable. But where is he for this shot

I'd easily see it again a third time and be just as excited again to see it. Absolutely loved it, but I REALLY wish Nolan was a believer in director's cuts for this one.

Its funny now the
[Show spoiler]dark ending crowd wants it to be open to ones own interpretation so happy with the ending The auto pilot and MF smiling pretty much sold me on it not being that way

I can't wait to get it home and watch it in my own house where I can really control everything.

[Show spoiler]I liked the ending as it very much reminded me of Inception. Did Alfred actually see Bruce or is it something he is imagining? By this point Alfred is wrecked with guilt and it could be that he just imagined seeing Bruce to 'move on' as carrying the burdern of the dead (like Bruce with Rachel, Dent, and his Mom and Dad) is a destructive path that he advised would eventually bury Bruce. He takes his own advice.

You are wrong.
[Show spoiler]this is not a dream Alfred barely knew Selina Kyle why would he imagine her even the music and all the hints to his friends should be a dead give away that BRUCE IS ALIVE living with Selina Kyle now. I think Nolan is shaking his head at those that think the ending is open

[Show spoiler]I remember seeing the shot of the Bat shooting across the bay with the bomb, then see the timer at 5 seconds, THEN that final shot of Batman still in the cockpit. Does anyone else remember the sequence that way?

[Show spoiler]I don't remember the timer, but it's well after he's over the bridge and not too long before the bomb blows.

Saturday: Went to the digital theater

Sunday (today): Wen to the IMAX

Result: IMAX was the best.

[Show spoiler]Bruce Wayne is dead, you are poor at watching films.

He is alive because;
1. This is not inception, the ending was given away easily
2. Lucius Fox learned that the "Autopilot" was fixed, there was nothing wrong with it - what was the point of that scene i wonder? Wayne got out!
3. Blake (Robin) was given a bag with a GPS and coordinates to go somewhere by Wayne, to a secret-secret batcave. The items were likely an afterthought of the explosion, not setup before the crisis. duh!
4. Alfred went to his favorite cafe in europe (vienna he said?), he told Bruce about the cafe (in vague detail however, but wayne has ways of finding out more detail doesn't he?), so Bruce went there to fulfill Alfred's dream of finding him having a life of his own, being happy and finding a nice girl to be with.
5. Notice, how when Alfred sees Wayne and they make eye contact, Alfred nods his head towards him and then gets up - to go talk to him obviously.
6. Wayne Manor was given away to the Boy's orphanage in his WILL? Really? Wayne i think came up with the idea as he was preparing to leave Gotham, along with all the other preparations.

Wayne is alive, he's either taking a break from being Batman, or he fully handed the reigns down to Blake (Robin). He did not die, he left Gotham to start his own life - the whole fight he had with Alfred about!

couldn't agree more. And i really think Nolan is shaking his head at them

And thats the great thing about
[Show spoiler] keeping him alive. If you had just nuked him or had the b* keep stabbing him with the knife you'd have no way to bring him back, now they can do another use him as a mentor or maybe they get thrown enough cash he does another full batman one... Point is anything can happen now and thats what I like about it

I highly doubt they do nightwing, to many people have no clue who that is. Where if it has the Batman name tagged to it its gonna be gold.

It amazes me that people think they will continue with this current story in the reboot.
[Show spoiler]There is no way in hell they would release a Batman movie without Bruce Wayne as Batman. This rendition of the story was closed up that's all there is too it. The ending was left that way so you can make your own conclusions about what Blake would do. Be it Nightwing or become the new Batman.

A reboot is just that a reboot. Change of story change of actors and everything.
