I dont understand why this wasn't put out in June. There really wasn't any competition.

Hey guys, I don't want to read much in this thread because I have not seen this movie but I have a quick question.

If I wanted to go see The Amazing Spider-Man I have 2 options.
1. The Amazing Spider-Man 3D ( RealD 3D)
2. The Amazing Spider-Man

Let me add that I do not have a 3D set-up in my home theater and my only experience with 3D is a few short demos at Best Buy and I cannot say I was too impressed. I am not sure if it is because I am over 40 years of age or not but figured i'd at least mention that.
Which one should I go see?

BTW if I go see this movie it will only be the 2nd time I have been to a theater in roughly six years. I saw The Dark Knight Rises last Friday and I had a blast! All I can say is that I am back and will be going to the movies on a regular basis once again!

So for my second I will see either The Amazing Spider-Man or The Avengers.
I will eventually see them both of course but I am still not sure which one I want to see first.

thanks in advance!

That sounds reasonable.
BTW I just called the theater where Spider-Man is playing and asked the girl which is more popular and she said 3D is by far more popular. I told her I was over 40 and she said I should at least try it once if I have never been to a 3D movie.

Spider-Man doesn't have a ton of 3-D in it. But Spider-Man is the far better movie, so I'd see that regardless.

I'd definitely see Spidey in 3D. Especially if you don't have 3D at home, this would be your only chance, and it's definitely worth it. Good depth, and amazing first person perspective shots.
Favorite Comic Book Movies: 1. The Dark Knight 2. The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The Avengers 4. Spider-Man 2 5. Batman Begins 6. Iron Man 7. X-Men: First Class 8. Kick-Ass 9. The Incredible Hulk 10. Spider-Man

It was amazing. I would say go see the Avengers in 3D if it is still playing that way in your area.

I'd say Avengers was pretty good 3D for being post-converted, but I didn't think it was as good as Spidey 3D

How so? If you don't mind, please elaborate a tiny bit on why you said this. thanks
Well Avengers and Spider-Man are playing is the same theater and only Spider-Man is in 3-D.
Again, they are both in the same theater and the Avengers is at 3:55pm and Spider-Man in 3-D is at 4:10pm so only 15 minutes apart.
I am still unsure which to see, more comments would be appreciated.

Avengers is better, imo. Easily the funniest movie I have seen this year and that includes Ted.

Amazing Spider-Man is a good reboot, and a nice first step for what should be a successful run of films, but it just can't compete with the Avengers, imo. I'm still trying to decide which I prefer, the Amazing Spider-Man or the first of the Maguire/Raimi trilogy. I think I'm leaning towards the new one, but it may be a bit of out of sight, out of mind.

It's the truth though. Both a great flicks in my opinion. Me being biased, I would see Spidey, just because I love the character, but I also think the acting is better. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are incredible together.

It depends on what you're in the mood for honestly. Spidey has great heart, romance, emotion, chemistry, good humor and solid action.

Avengers is a bigger adrenaline rush with tons of amazing action and great humor.

So if you want to see a big action flick, go see the Avengers. If you want to see more of an emotional story, with action secondary, go see Spidey

Thumbs up

Thanks guys. ^^^

As it turned out I could not make it in time to see a movie today but since I got some great input from several members here at Blu-ray.com in this thread I am going to promise to see both The Avengers AND The Amazing Spider-Man within the next week, so lets say that I must have seen them both by July 31st or I am a liar. So if I have not replied with my thoughts on The Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers in this thread by then, please call me out and remind me what I said in this post.
Don't forget that I have only seen 1 movie at a theater is the last ~6 years and that was just last Friday when I saw The Dark Knight Rises....and honestly, I had an extremely good time so I am not sure why it was not easier for me to get myself back to the movies again today.
