Paramount BD Wave 2 (Beowulf, Transformers, Shrek & More) POST HERE ONLY - Blu-ray Forum

Since we're not purchasing DVD any longer in the family home; and never owned an HD-DVD player

- Everything we've picked up in the last 6 months has been Blu-Ray.

We really like the movie Stardust and see that it's a Paramount flick.

We just watched a movie and I was sure that the Stardust tailer inluded Blu-Ray.

When I google the movie-There's only hope that it may be part of a rumoured Paramount release (probably in the UK).

Can anyone confirm?

Stardust was released a few months after Paramount went HD-DVD.

I'm in the same boat. I really liked this film, but I refuse to buy it on DVD; I want it on Blu-ray. Obviously, I'm not the only one. At some point, Paramount has to realize their hanging on to an almost-dead format is costing them DVD sales as well as all the Blu-ray sales.

This one was distributed by Paramount worldwide under UIP (United International Pictures), a distribution company that Paramount and Universal use.

I liked the movie but it is missing something that would've made it an instant classic.

It's a big boat I think, as me and the misses are in it too. It's hard to talk her out of buying the DVD though, but so far so good.

I would buy this movie the day it's released on blu for sure.

I still won't spend any money on paramount/universal/dreamworks. I havn't seen any of their films in the theatre or rented them. Paramount had no class the way the dropped bluray last year. Funny I never disliked a film studio before I think paramount are a buch of scumbags.

When Best Buy drops HD-DVD they will be scrambling to join Blu-Ray, I can guarantee you that. Brad Anderson CEO of Best Buy wants to move to one format and I bet this will happen by July at the latest. Best Buy & other retailers don't want another missed holiday for HDM with all the confusion that just went down this past Christmas.

I just do not understand how Paramount could possibly make a contract with HD DVD! And are they going to realize it was a fatal error? And once they realized, willthey break the contract? And will blu-ray make a contract with Paramount, once they've left HD DVD so "brutally"?

Toshiba calling it quits (imminent) would certain disolve the Paramount and Universal contracts.

150 million dollars in an industry thats not nearly as large as DVD at this point is a huge motivator for some companies that don't care about the consumer, and all they care about is profit.

Well know its not much but I know that it's being published in the UK link

and whats even more interesting is that I ordered it when they first put it on a few weeks ago along with a number of other titles including Zodiac and now they've changed it back to the "we'll notify you when these are available".. but my orders still stand and the estimated dates are what was originally put in place on the site at the time..

I'll bet my bottom dollar that they were'nt supposed to release details yet and put them up for order by mistake but believe you, me.. they're a coming..

Well, the events of the last few days may mean Stardust on Blu-ray is not quite as far off as we'd feared! I know it'll take a while, but hope to have it before too long! I guess the old adage is correct, good things come to those who wait.

I love Stardust myself and have it on HDDVD. If it came out on Blu, I probably wouldn't upgrade unless it had more bonus features.

With that said I hope Paramount switches soon, because I need my Cloverfield on Blu-Ray.
