Favorite film in HD..
Theres no film on BR that makes me drool for a BR player. (Still getting one) But some come pretty close Dawn of the Dead. Day of the Dead. Night of the living dead. Phantasm. Titanic. Jaws. Blade. Alien. Aliens. I'd jump through hoops & run over granny for a BR player if these titles were out now.. Still getting a PS3 next week.

It wasn't a specific movie that made me get a BD player. I actually got a PS3 for PS3 Home that was suppose to have come out back in October I think, but never did. But as well that same day I got my first BD, and the collection started from there. I'm just a fan of technology. So it wasn't a question of if I was going to go Blu, it was just a matter of when.

The first Blu-ray I ever saw was Hairspray. I knew immediately from the opening scene that I wanted a Blu-ray player. Since then the "hair test" has been my standard for judging BD PQ.

When Starship Troopers was announced last summer, before being cancelled, that made me buy a BR Player after owning an HD DVD player only at the time.

I dont think it was one specific movie for me, as much as it was the movie studios that Blu-ray had. One big factor for me was Disney being exclusive.

The 1000s of DVDs on the shelves in my living room. When I was confident that Blu-Ray was going to be the new standard, I made the switch so I could start confidently buying movies again without worrying about a double dip. I had slowed to near stop on DVD about 12 months prior.

There were clips of 3 movies that I saw on a blu-ray player at BB. A Knight's Tale, RV, and Kingdom of Heaven. They were all on split screen so you could see the difference between blu and SD DVD. My jaw hit the floor when I saw how much better blu was. That's when I made my decision to go HD.

I guess it's not really a 'movie', but the concert video AC/DC Live at Donnington was one of the BRDs I wanted to get as soon as I bought my PS3. It's the first one I bought (after getting my 15 free ones!).
More for the audio (which is totally AWESOME) than the video (which is average). The performance is great though, and my son (he's 6) and I watch it over and over, and over. When I want to demo my home theater, it's one of the first discs I put in. By far the best concert BR available so far!

Pirates of the Caribbean... I was a HD DVD only supporter until March 2007, and when I read about Pirates coming to Blu-ray I went out and bought a PS3 that day...
"The Minneapolis Lakers moved to Los Angeles where there are no lakes. The Oilers moved to Tennessee were there is no oil. The Jazz moved to Salt Lake City where they don't allow music. The Oakland Raiders moved to L.A. and then back to Oakland; no one in Los Angeles seemed to notice. Continued expansion diluted the talent pool, forcing owners to recruit heavily from prisons, mental institutions, and Texas."
