Default Warner releasing "Gigi" & "An American in Paris" DVDs Sep 08 - BDs "early 09"

A couple months ago, Warner announced "Gigi" and "An American in Paris" were among their Classics coming to Blu-ray this year. Yet, Warner's announcement of these two titles today only included DVD versions set for September 16.

Does anybody know if Warner's abandoned plans on these, or are they just not coming out the same day as the DVDs?
Blu-ray: 150 (and counting!)

DVD: 266

They need to remake Gigi. Perhaps this time it can be about an Italian keeper who throws games for money and gets one of the most powerful teams in Italy demoted.

They were just announced today, so hopefully Blu-ray announcements are coming soon. I know a couple times in the past Warner has announced a Blu-ray version a few days after the fact (Assassination of Jesse James comes to mind).

"In terms of classic catalog, it's Warner's goal (by mid to late summer) that going forward, EVERY TIME they issue a new catalog special edition or Ultimate Collector's Edition on standard DVD, the title will also available day-and-date on Blu-ray Disc as well."

It's almost certain that the transfer is already done and it'd make sense from a purely marketing standpoint that both the DVD and blu be released on the same date. LA Confidential was initially announce only on DVD as well, but we've since learned blu ray will be released the same day, so I'd say this is likely the same situation. Purely speculating of course.

Gigi and American, AFAIK, haven't had their Warner "Ultra-Resolution" cleanup yet that WOz, Singin' in the Rain or Meet Me in St. Louis got--
And Ultra is hi-def mastering, which explains how Robin Hood, Casablanca and The Searchers got here so quickly.

Think this's the first time either of the two musicals have been out of their old 90's MGM/UA birth-of-DVD VHS-barebones master in the last ten years either, for that matter, so hey, first things first.

I'm guessing we'll see this as the norm for the first couple of years (until the Blu-restoration factories get rolling),
A) as DVD releases (for the "regular" folk) get less complicated mastering than the Blu codings, and released first so that
B) they can generate income in the meantime, to pay for the more detailed mastering, backed-up replication schedules, and lengthier printing time that the Blu versions require.

In this new Post-war economy, we must learn to make sacrifices, until the industry starts moving again...
