Default Christian Bale rumored to play Robin Hood in Ridley Scott's Nottingham

Remember that in Ridley Scott's Nottingham, The Sheriff of Nottingham is actually the good guy, Maid Marion is a ***** and Robin Hood is the villian (robing from the rich and screw the poor).

The report is that Ridley Scott really wants Bale as Robin Hood. And who turns down Ridley Scott?

Russell Crowe is the Sheriff of Nottingham and Sienna Miller will play Maid Marion. This movie is starting to shape up nicely!

Bale is wrapping up Terminator Salvations and now maybe onto Robin Hood? Man, he's got his work cut out for him for a long time. William Hurt & Vanessa Redgrave are in talks to be cast in the film as well. Bale/ Crowe are a good combo, as proved in 3:10 to Yuma. Can't wait!

Hes got Terminator and the next Batman movie due out in 11 or 12. I will def be bashed for this, but I honestly think Bale is overrated. He is just way too bland and boring. His voice is borderline annoying. Its the movies he is in that makes him the actor he is. Prestige, good movie. Batman Begins, good movie. 3:10, good movie. And all of them would be good without him as well. Go ahead bash all you want, just an opinion.

By the Way, when is this movie due out?

I understand where you're coming from man. I never really thought about it to much...I still do like him as an actor. All the good movies he's in, is probably the reason I like him so much. I still think he's the best Batman IMO. Michael Keaton did a good job as well. Can't wait for Dark Knight! But yeah back to point at hand. I never heard this version of Robin Hood before. It makes me very excited to see them reversing the roles of the characters of the normal story that I'm used to. I'm not a fan of Russell Crow but 3:10 and American Gangster were both movies I actually liked him in surprisingly I wonder when this one will be filmed and put out. Probably 2010-11 HOPEFULLY

Actually, I could see Russell Crowe as a better hateable Sherriff:

His one perpetually smug actor-conscious half-smirk in every role drove me straight up the wall through "3:10 to Yuma", and now I can't watch "Gladiator" because of it.

Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe and Christian Bale how could you go wrong with this one... I'd change up the chick and put someone like Rachel McAdams as Maid Marion... Way hotter in my opinion....

What a joke(refering to the Bale bashing), Christian Bale is currently one of the best growing actors in the field, and despite the fact that Batman Begins is decisively the best Batman movie to date, you claim it would have been equally as good without him?

For a quick example, look at the most recent Batman (Batman & Robin) where we find "GREAT" actors piled together to what should of been a excellent movie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger ... Mr. Freeze / Dr. Victor Fries

George Clooney ... Batman / Bruce Wayne

Chris O'Donnell ... Robin / Dick Grayson

Uma Thurman ... Poison Ivy / Dr. Pamela Isley

Alicia Silverstone ... Batgirl / Barbara Wilson

For those of you who haven't seen the movie, let me save you the time by telling you this movie was the WORST Batman to date, leading us to firmly believe that not "anyone" can be Batman, and that Christian Bale made that movie what it is. Discrediting him shows poor judgment and a lack of an eye for good acting.

But really, don't let his countless nominations and several award winning performances for Best Actor with movies like Batman Begins, Rescue Dawn, The Prestige, 3:10 To Yuma, and The Machinist, and American Psycho change your opinion on him. It's really all just the situational and conveinent roles he's playing in movies that make him the actor he is. (Yeah, ok.)

Agreed. And if Crowe and Bale are in it, there's a really good chance that it's a great script...

Isn't Bale really British anyways? For some reason, I'm thinking in every movie he does that he's fighting with an accent. I think I might be confused by the Prestige because Hugh Jackman is fighting his Australian accent and I think I thought Bale wasn't but if he was then weird that both actors are scrapping their accents in that movie.

Correction:

If Bale is in it chances are it's a good script.

Let's not forget that Crowe did another movie with Ridley in which he was trying out his 'romantic comedy' chops.

while Batman begins was a great movie i still think american psycho was by far a better test as an actor for bale. it isn't easy to pull off a role where your a total psycho killer yet the girls still love you and guys still wanted thought you rocked. i mean he nailed that role imo. 3:10 to yuma i think he carried that movie (no offense to crowe). it is so easy to play a character that is one sided...doesn't grow or evolve over a movie but he did an incredible job in each of those two movies in molding a great character. his last 4 or 5 movies i think actually had alot to do with his excellent protrayal of characters not just the fact that they were hits. other than batman i am not sure any of the movies was promoted as a blockbuster in the media until after you saw the movies come out. it was the strong stories and acting i believe that caused them to become a blockbuster..not a marketing or media blitz imo.

oh and don't hate on those actors in Batman and Robin....everyone has done something incredibly embarrasing for money...no exceptions in hollywood....ie half of kevin costners movies during the late 90s early 2000s. he sold out to any script that he could bank on and at least now he has done movies that have at least shown a bit of acting that he used to do back when he was doing it right.

oh...and i doubt its a stretch for any b list hollywood actress to play a ***** in any movie..i am sure sienna will do a slam dunk job on her bit...................lol sorry i couldn't resist.

By the Way, when is this movie due out?
the movies you listed are debatable as to whether they would be as good with a different actor. I don't fully believe someone else would have pulled off what he did in The Prestige nearly as well. 3:10 and Batman I'd give more leway on but I still am very happy with his performance and wouldn't trade them for the possibility of another actor doing worse.

that being said, The Machinist and American Psycho are Bale's movies through and through and putting any other actor in there would seriously change the fantastic final products produced in both cases.

He's great, I hope he keeps getting blockbuster opportunities to prove it.

New word has come out as to who Russell Crowe wants to play Robin Hood:

source

“…Russell Crowe wants Sam Riley who played Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis in Control to play opposite him as Robin Hood. It's not official yet but they will most likely get Sam Riley for the role because Crowe loved his performance in Control. “
