I'm still a little unhappy Warner decided not to re-do the HD DVD encode. Universal is doing it on movies that definitely won't sell as well(the Mummy). The Dark Knight better be the best reference Blu-ray ever to make up for it.

Batman Begins was heavily filtered by WB that removed all the high frequency details. Be prepared to bash it once it's out on Blu-ray unless Warner does a new encode.

The HD DVD looked great. Not amazing but great. From what I remember I would give it a solid 4 star rating.

It will look incredible, judging by the high def Quicktime trailers so far for it. I think the Prologue with the Batman Begins Blu-ray should give us a good idea of how TDK will look on Blu-ray. Pfister's cinematography looks even better than it did the first time around with Batman Begins so as long as WB doesn't screw up the transfer, it should look amazing.

You are dead wrong. Warner have to change the resolution on the BB cover art from 1920x1080p to 1280x720p.

WTF are you talking about? I'm talking about TDK, which so far looks amazing as far as the high def trailers go.

Or perhaps he could use the quote feature. Oh, and for the record I think the BB HD DVD looks great. I'd put it on par with my National Treasure Blu-ray for instance.

Yep, that helps

I've never seen the HD DVD so I'm really excited for my first viewing of BB on BD.

I think it looks pretty damn good. It's not perfect, it's a little soft. A higher bitrate would make it probably one of the best transfers on HDM. But as it is, I usually just turn up the sharpness setting on my TV a bit and it looks stellar. The parts that were filmed in Iceland are STUNNING.

BTW, I usually have my sharpness set at 2 on a scale of 10 and I turn it up to around 5 or 6 for BB. I have a Sharp 46 inch 1080p LCD and I am running an A3, so I'm guessing it's deinterlaced by my TV since it looks just as good as National Treasure on Blu-ray.

So is there any word about a possible new encode yet?

It's not re-encoded. That's why I'm hoping someone can figure out a way to rip the Prologue from it and post a torrent of it in PS3-compatible MP4.

Ummm once again...how can my opinion be wrong??? Me thinking it looked great is neither fact or fiction simply my opinion. Let people decide for themselves your forceful obnoxious attitude towards people who are fine with HD DVD ports is getting rather annoying.

No need to wait until then, anybody who has seen the disappointing HD DVD effort knows exactly what we're getting Thanks Warner

He was talking about this: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...&#post10992260

Many discs are 720p quality despite being encoded as 1080p. I don't think they should be listed as 720p on the back, but studios should definitely own up and remaster and/or re-encode the ones that deserve it, like Batman Begins.

Based on some of his other posts, this I agree with

I don't see anything about pixel counting, it's comparing the level of detail.
